Forum Private Chat - Can this Be Disabled?

    Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but the forum private chat. Is there not a privacy option to have this turned off? Being sent a private message calling myself and @WolfManbush a "moron", simply because I dare to have a different opinion to the sender is wrong.

    Yes, I have blocked the sender, but I would like to have the private chat disabled.

    Also, why can I not leave a private chat that has been initiated by another forum member? When I try I get a message saying I cannot do this.

    @pumpa-cat you cant disable it, however you can stop all notifications from it. In the end this does the same, people can still chat to you yes. But unless you check the actual chat page you would be none the wiser

    Hello Sir , i do know how you feel , because it is never fun to be called something because of a different opinion , but this Private Chat option has also a lot of good things to people , some Friendships or new crews form by this option so seeing it go would be not an honest way ... But i do support you that this chat should be able to be blocked ( which is possible) or even make an option to report those messages to the Rare Forum guards ( if they are here)... Opinions differ , must differ because that's just what gives this and any other Forum their colour ( and i don't mean this in a racial nor racist way)... People shouldn't be called anyhting , and if it does come to that , than it simply shows that you are dealing with a person that isn't that smart after all if that seems to be his or her only weapon... i wouldn't take this heavy , just speak yer mind in a civil way and those who call you names need to have a look in the mirror , maybe they will find the origin of those words right infront of their nose....

    I get what you’re saying, but I’m not convinced Rare takes our privacy seriously. They don’t give me the option to opt out of receiving private messages, and neither do they allow me to “leave” a private chat when somebody else initiates it. It seems only the originator can remove people from the chat or close it down. Therefore personal attacks have to happen. I can only block after the fact. I would much prefer to be able to avoid such attacks with the aforementioned abilities. 😔

    People disagreeing with me is fine. No problem with that. But direct personal attacks with being called a moron? By people who can’t state such in public, they have to hide it in a PM? Please show me where I have called somebody a moron.

    I agree. Frankly I’m tired of these messages.

    And they leave the private chat so you can’t even reply or they block you. Sigh

    tryin' to hurt people, tryin' to turn people against others, being unfair and unkind over disagreement

    these aren't substantive counters to ideas and opinions, it's just an attempt to inflict some form of pain, of revenge

    Life has a way of putting people through enough, doesn't really need us looking for ways to amplify it on one another.

    Personal attacks are against the Forum rules....PERIOD. Presenting ideas others might not agree with is not.

    Learn the difference lest you get banned for such behavior in the future.

    I used to get them all the time from just one guy. I assume he was banned but I’m not sure. I thankfully haven’t had one it a while but it’s unacceptable regardless.

    @pumpa-cat I just had a check on one of my private chats and instantly found an option to leave it.

    Look the the three little lines just above the chat box and there’s an option there to leave it.

    I know. But as I said above, that option will not let me leave the chat.
