@goldsmen I find solo play fun and exciting, but this is when I am fully rested and itching for sea of thieves. Those conditions need to be met.
Last time I played was in the late evening after finishing 60hr work week. Got to a server, seemed quiet, just about perfect for a relaxing night.
Put OoS emissary for the ledger rewards, bought 2 quests, sailed off, one was on a big island so instant discard, the other one was allright, killed a skelly sloop, finished the quest and now I'm level 4. Since the server seemed empty thought ok lets try to reach 5 and go to bed...Saw a skelly sloop in a distance, went for it, when I noticed a 2 man sloop almost ganked me and is chasing me...I tried everything to convince them that I don't want to fight.
I boarded them/set them on fire/anchored them/put holes in them/killed both of them. I felt I can take them down, but was not 100 confident also was not looking to do any pvp and me outplaying them few times did not seem to matter..they just continued to sail after me for the little loot I had. ( I did not want to loose either, as last month doing solo reapers was a nightmare). Then while running a Meg attacked me, I managed to shake it off, but they are still sailing after me....
So I noticed its getting very late ,something past 1 AM. Ok ...fine...let's fight if you insist... we started exchanging shots, I was hitting them more than they were hitting me. So I thought to myself, ok I have a chance here, I just need to do everything super quick and accurately (1AM, tired after work, not exactly why I launched the game but whatever).
Then all of a sudden a skelly sloop spawns on my side attacking me....I just ignored it and continued the fight with the duo sloop. Then all of a sudden a Brig joins the party ramming my ship. I thought I'll just alt f4 now and save myself some braincells.
In the end, they have sank the brig and the skelly sloop, I managed to escape the mayhem and sell everything and log off.
So this story would have been one to remember on a normal day. But when just trying to relax after work, I found this way too stressful to enjoy.
Not complaining or anything, just pointing out the solo experience. Can assure you, any new player would have been sunk and had a bad time. And if you have read the story, you should realize that that new player who already has a hang of the game, would have felt that the whole game was rigged against them to loose. Bigger crews chasing them/2x random encounters spawning to attack them, when a bigger player crew is already on them/ an even bigger crew joins the party for a fight...
Sure this might have been some good 'streaming material' if you can pull it off, someone like blurbs would have sank them all by himself probably. Most of us would not.
I also don't understand this RNG, during the last month it felt that it is rigged against the underdog (me) who already has 2/3 players on his back.
Just an idea, if you are attacking a smaller ship/crew your chances of getting 'rared' should increase instead of the weaker ship getting the short end of it.
