Server merge nooo!

    Here's the scenario: Me, solo sloopin' it up. Go to Ashen winds. Park a little off the coast 'cause of meteors. Finish ashen wind event as storm is rolling through. Ship sinks from rain, oh no! But its okay. I'll just put the loot on shore and go get the ol' girl. Insert using merm here. Gets back to boat, starts going back to loot, and BAM SERVER MERGE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GET RARE'd.

    PLEASE. Can we make an internal timer where like, if someone has completed an event, it postpones server merge time for like 15 mins or something like that so if we have a rando storm sink us we can go get the loot before we get booted across the realm? Pleeeeease.

    ......Please.

    PS if anyone wants to check their server, it was on wanderer's refuge. Loot is stacked on the little broken dock to the.... north i think? lol

    @cptmorale you probably got merged because there where no other ships on your server anymore and you went to a populated one, the one that you left behind has since gone offline or rebooted.

    A simple fix for this would have been to bury your loot

    oh, burying it would save it? didnt think about that. i prolly wouldnt have had time to do that anyway, though. takes too many clicks to dig stuff up. that much loot burying/uncovering prolly adds like 45mins to a session lol. oh well.

    @cptmorale the other thing is, dont let your ship sink to a storm 😂 i mean in a storm it fills up really slow!

    1. Pretty sure its impossible to sink to the storm alone, I believe you have to also have at least 1 hole in your boat

    2. To prevent losing loot in this fashion, bury it

    3. You can't get server merged if there is a pirate on an island, be that you, a crewmate, or a member of another crew so if you're worried about a merge, stay off your ship.

    This is why you bury the treasure, but yeah those random server merges are the worst cause it's always when you least expect it and it always gets you.

    I don't even know why the old server merging system is still in place. Like I understand they want to empty out dying servers. But they also just merge us if we are far from other players because we are considered being anti social and created a bad experience for PvPers trying to hunt down other people to fight.... But we have an on demand system now. In the very least that forced merge because no one else is around should be turned off. Plus I imagine that all the random server merging combined with the server merging from this PvP would be causing necessary strain on the servers.

    I mean I've died on a island with a rowboat about 3 squares away from ship tops. We go back to get it rowboat gone

    Server merges are actually good about loot from my experience

    i wouldve parked closer but meteors are meteors lol. on the island, i wasnt really in it and didnt notice. i cannoned off the ship and swam to fight ashen boi lol

    Honestly, not sure since if servers are being created and deleted on demand it allows the strain to be reduced when there's no need to, most servers in other games have scheduled restarts for memory clearing so this merging would be something akin to that so it would be still reducing less strain on the servers.

    @cptmorale The harsh waves of the storm gives holes but if you patch those before you leave ship and your ship isn't moving, you can't sink to just the storm.
