Game-breaking bug during matchmaking

Prior to said bug occuring we had succesfully voted to represent Guardians of Fortune faction, invaded, and sunk a Servant of the Flame ship. After the fight we managed to grab plenty of supplies from Sanctuary and Golden Sands Outposts consecutively and decided to invade again.
As we dove to the depths after voting for an invasion on the Battle Map, we were thrown into the matchmaking animation. It didn't take more than 20 seconds to find the opponent. And this is where things went south.
First of - we seemed to have been stuck on the same session we were before. Our ship seemed to be stuck too, only it was stuck underwater - we could interact with it, shoot cannons, change sails, use anchor.
The only part we were not able to access was the War Map and the Hourglass, which deemed our ship to be "currently in a battle". When on the deck of the ship, we were unable to grab water into our buckets, and yet we were drowning. From under the deck, when standing on the stairs (this was happening on the brigantine), it seemed like the surface above the ship's deck was not underwater, and the space below deck was dry as well. Jumping off the ship caused the crew members to be teleported up, where they would see the nicknames of the crew members down below - the boat was beyond reach, and the only way to come back to the boat was to go to the Ferry of the Damned. We tried voting for the Tall Tale in the Ferry, and then we cancelled it. After that our crew decided it was over, and we tried scuttling the ship, but the ship would not scuttle - the only way we were able to sink it was by lighting it on fire, until a hole in the hull popped. Even after the deathcry and the notification that our ship has sunk, it still remained in the same place and did not disappear. After dying and trying to respawn, our crew members were thrown into an endless loading screen.
I hope the description of the problem is clear and concise - if not, I do have screenshots of the bug effecting our gameplay. It has ruined our experience severely due to the fact that we were a Faction Champion already, trying to fight and cash out before going to sleep. I was also notified that otherplayers have had a similar issue occur to them from the official Sea of Thieves Discord server.
