PvE options but with limitations

  • So I myself have no problem play a game where it is all pvp as sea of thieves is but I have had several friends stop playing because they want to do tall tales and not be chased, spawn killed (where other players are not sinking the ship just killing them) then being sunk eventually especially when being sunk results in the loss of an item they need and then have to restart. Or even just sailing around making money just island hopping or doing the emissary stuff. They understand they may be sunk but get mad when they lose money buying the missions just to gain nothing. Now I love the game the way it is however I also wouldn't be opposed to a pve game where people can just sail around and like be like privateers if you must. Like no world events, no skilly ships etc (have to punish those that don't take risks some how) it can be a full server just like pvp but like a passive mode always active (like gta) where you can still do everything just can't damage other or take damage from others. Just an idea and am curious of ones thoughts on this if, when, or if it does get read.

  • 2 things to prioritize

tall tale check points and selling loot regularly

the key to pve in a dangerous environment is to minimize losses and to gain experience in order to become efficient

don't strategize based on what you think should exist, strategize based on what exists, adapt to it.

  • @guinledragon time and again it's been said there will be no pve mode, no passive mode, or safe places. As wolf said. sell often. work the checkpoints.

  • You gain gold simply by playing, you do know this right?
I spent 1 hours just fishing and just being online and the renown I earned about 5000 gold (plus the fish I sold)

  • Luckily, you get gold from basically everything these days, and voyages cost barely anything at all.

PvE servers, passive areas, whatever you wanna call it, and earning gold are not things that are gonna happen. This has been confirmed in the past.

  • Custom Servers are still being worked on, but you won't earn any rewards from them.

  • @wolfmanbush said in PvE options but with limitations:

While doing tall tales you don’t get any loot. It’s still annoying when you are interrupted during tall tale dialogue or you need to jump servers just to avoid hostile players.

I tolerate PvP as a part of the Sea of Thieves

  • @GuinLeDragon Ahoy!

The team have semi-recently given their thoughts on the topic of PvPvE and discussed it in an official Podcast here.

There is also a thread for Custom servers here.

Sea of Thieves will always be a shared world adventure game, with elements of both PvP and PvE but Joe did speak about Custom Servers about a year ago. These servers will not offer Gold or progression IF they become available to the public. Private Servers are still being tested with our Partners.

    Dropping anchor on this now.
