Suggestion to prevent chat spam

  • In Rocket League they have built in a way to help stop chat spam. If someone spams the same quick chat multiple times in a short period they get a small chat ban (ie: 7 seconds). Then if they do it again (probably within a certain cooldown period) they get another longer chat ban. This continues getting longer and longer until eventually (I assume) a permanent ban.

    This could help prevent things like "Roll on deck laughing" spam and pet text spam.

  • What if it doesn't bother me?

    I spend a lot of adventure time in combat, some of them get a bit spammy (rarely is it wild and over the top)

    it's usually 2 or 3 times after they kill me or I kill them

    doesn't bother me, and if it bothers someone they can turn off the other's communication.

    I'm not a fan of enforcement getting involved when we have tools to deal with it ourselves.

    I'd rather they do that than a good chunk of what I end up hearing on the mic lol.

  • Surprised this isn't a thing already tbh, a chat backlog would be handy sometimes too.

  • I would say something more like team fortress 2's system where it lets you spam something just a few times, then after that it slows it down to one every so many seconds, it doesnt ban, just slows, because when ever im with some specific friends, we all just act dumb and spam the dumbest quick chat messages we can find to each other.
