PLEASE DO SOMETHING ON HACKERS

  • Dear, Team Sea Of Thieves,
You guys had made an amazing game, I used to enjoy a lot in the seas, And was very eager to play this game but it did not came on steam, finally when it came to steam, I purchased it because this game is so fun, you are free to do anything you like, but recently I have seen that this free-ness also came with a curse. At first it was just a pirate game, we used befriend some crews, used to betray, I remember that how me and my friends befriended a crew for 4 hours only to steal their 4 million of loot, and also that when I donated all my loot to new crew and they became mad that Iam giving them loot for free. Those where amazing times. We used to find lores for hours and hours, In those days, we were pirates but there was some ethics like we never attacked a fishing ship or a ship who's finding lore or new pirates or pirates doing tall tales.
But now everything changed everyone attacking each other, no respect for lore finders, or tall talers or new players. Everyone wants to fight and why is this because most the players are using hacks they don't want fun or adventure they only want to kill other players and just destroy them, so it's bit annoying. There are lots and lots of hackers out there and Iam not blaming you guys, you guys doing your best but It's not happening, you guys are acting like republic of star wars, Hackers (trade fedretion) attacking Sea of Thieves (Naboo) and you guys are republic.
Everytime someone reports with proof, it's your duty to thoroughly check it, check their IP, Check their Playstyle, Check their past performance, It took me 2-3 months to become a LSeadog and T Seadog, ask any genuine player they will tell you the same, but some players became that in 15-20 days, how is it possible? I know a player who can't play well but suddenly he's doing 360 degree snipping, Another player who plays so well he never dies killing everyone, but when he gives screenshare that guy can't able to survive in a fight, screenshare off and he becomes pro again. I reported that player with screenshot but you guys can't even able to do anything, gave you the site from where hackers getting hacks but you guys can't able to do anything, I reported a player who by-passed the ban you guys again banned him but still he managed to came back :D.
So, I thought that it's time to move on, oh BTW this my alternate account only to report players who are cheating, My Real Acoount is Xeltrax#9593.
SO I decided that never to come back it's hard to say but if you can't act on this there's not a point, I remember the last adventure I can't able to complete because of these kind of cheaters.
As a Lore Finder we used to say that Captain Flameheart will come and will control the Sea of Thieves, But the answer is it's not the FLAME HEART, the Hackers will control the Sea of Thieves.
    Thanks,
    Xeltrax#9593

  • I dunno who is cheating but I know that this game hasn't had a healthy process for rising on the food chain.

This has created a dwindling group of well rounded pirates and has created an environment where a lot of the pvp appears off because of that lack of a healthy and sustainable food chain.

People that are very skilled at tdm but don't have naval is a very common thing now.

Well rounded players with strong pve backgrounds that helped them become well rounded are not much around anymore.

It's a lot of newer players and inexperienced or not yet pvp skilled players vs skilled shooters and that skill gap is going to look a lot like cheating because of how very different the skill levels are.

Things used to seem more balanced because it was, there was a lot of people playing, many of them had strong backgrounds in pve and were well rounded players and all of the middle activity created encounters that were much more random all around.

Quite a few if not most of the really high skill play out there is being performed by people in their teens to mid 20's, many of them have been involved in competitive online gaming combat (mostly shooting) since they were young.

  • Since 2020, im pretty sure hacking just have becommed a bigger and bigger problem.
Ive seen much wierd stuff last 2 years, all from people flying towards my ship with a keg in theire hands, people behind me boarding, where i just see person flying towards my ship from behind, people knowing where others are at all time, also remember right before they patched wall bangs, a dude that was standing on the beach killed me while i was downstairs on a brigantine, while he knew at all time where i was, yeah seen alot wierd stuff there last 2 years lol.
I really think rare should consider a form for anticheat of some sort. Also with the bad hitreg thats been atleast the last 2 years (or it have been like launch) but last 2 years its been a hot mess, and even worse going against hackers when you cant even kill them to hitreg.
This game used to be so much fun, and still can be but there is a but in there.

Please Rare, get some sort of anti cheat. And also if someone have been reported for hacking, and sent evdense, not just do an account ban, but hardware ban, people can just make new accounts over and over

  • Hackers are a real issue here, there is one thing to encounter a person who really excels in pvp combat, and there is completely another thing to get absolutely castrated by a guy who does 360, eats jumps, dodges, one blunders, all of these in a quarter of a second, and the most recent thing, the knows exactly where you spawn

  • What do you expect? Rare has not provided any good content to keep players busy for more than a few hours every 3 month. Veteran players are bored out of their minds.

To make matters worse RARE ban good players who sink ships by means of spawn camping for sups, especially if they manage to get in an alliance server where people pay real money and exploit players financially. So what does the player do? Makes an alt account and loads up cheats because now he doesn't care about content because the account can get banned again. You can still find brand new montages using 120 fov on YouTube or flying keg hacks as of late.

It's on rare for poor decision making on a game nearing it's 5 year anniversary. If we're all lucky we get a hat

  • I don't think it is particularly common, but yeah there are cheaters. Everything from soft cheating like macros to full-blown stuff, but honestly again it's not that common. Usually EU or far east servers, or players, in my experience

  • Console doesn't have that problem...

  • I'm seeing recently that hackers are also managing to have access to very rare cosmetics and even unrealased ones. I saw mixel fighting against a crew of naked trolls all having gilded phoenix weapons and another youtuber called toxie sinclaire going against a toxic guy wearing a recolor of the morningstar hat (black with purple feather), which I'm sure was never been released.

  • Yeah can certainly agree about the ' no pirate code' anymore part. Personally not sure if I ever ran into cheaters yet. But since I started encountering bugs for the first time I never saw before, probably its just a question of time.

Had an encounter yesterday, was just finishing my emissary ledger for merchants (was level 4 and just 1 crate of loot, due to the voyage bugging out 5/6 times...), when I saw a sloop approaching me, I had level 3 or 4 emissary flag and almost no loot, so I thought screw it lets see what they want... got my chainshots ready, blunder bombs, fire bombs, cannon balls...
They approach me and start saying - we're friendly, we're friendly. We wanna give you our loot. I'm like ok, no thank you im allright, ''what do you want''. They started spamming their mic in a friendly manner, I let them board, I could have taken down their mast by now and filled them with holes as I had a good position...he boards we start playing shanties..then bam he shoots me in the face with the blunderbuss..ok..(had just 1 pineapple one me). I spawn back and he insta kills me with a blunder from the top deck while i was on the main deck..i'm like ok, nice shot... spawn back we fight a bit, i run out of food and they proceed to spawn camp me,they dont take resources, they dont even take that single piece of loot I had, they dont even want to sink...just spawn camping me...I mean I know they are teenagers from their voices, but gosh how pointless this all was?
I really can not see ever trusting another crew while I'm solo again, was my own naivness for letting them come close, but I had nothing to lose, thought they just want to do alliance or whatever. From what I read I suppose this is reportable or am I wrong?

  • Half your story had nothing to do with “mods” (hackers is wrong word to use here)
And the second part is you talking about dev not doing anything. Well I can tell you, that because not many actually report with evidence

If I report someone for stealing my wallet and I say my neighbor did it. What gonna happen? Spend months searching for clues
Unless I have a camera that caught them red handed. Which is better?

There isn't much to compare on something like this between content creator and the random player of the game.

Someone like me that plays as much as a streamer and fights as much as a streamer but doesn't have any social currency on my name doesn't see it much more than once in a blue moon in organic play. Nobody cares if I get spawn camped including me, I'm not a part of any "sweaty" social thing. Nothing to gain by wasting time chasing me around different servers.

The group that specifically plays to hunt down streamers on servers while cheating aren't flooding servers with random activity, that hunt is mostly all they do. They want reactions and they want to interfere in content to get attention. They don't get that by messing with random people that aren't recording or well known within the social parts of the community.

Any group like that is going to be running private cheats which is why they last so long (outside of regular alts)

  • aim botting, esp reading, lag switching, speed hacks, teleporting, flying.

All possible and all need clamped down on.

  • @ragington that's not an excuse for hacking, tho. It's a really childish mentality. And the need to rely on hacks is obviously just to hide the fact that they are terrible at the game, I don't think they do that just to "sabotage" Rare.

  • How to do something about hackers! Record them and go to the support page of the sea of thieves website with the recording.

How not to do something about hackers. Complain about it on the forums without evidence and demanding change.

Rare cant ban people if they dont know what some one has done wrong. Its difficult for them to learn about new cheats that are being used if they dont have evidence of whats happening.

  • I play around 20-30 hours a week on pc. I never run into hackers. In my roughly 1k hours I ran into 1 player I was suspicious of. I am aware they're popping up more lately because I watch streamers. I don't think it's nearly as bad as you're making it out to be. I find it hard to believe you're running into them all the time and I only see them once in a while on streams not even in my own games.

I do think Rare needs to keep a close eye on the situation. As for how the Seas are there has been a serious lack of content. A whole season was based on ship trinkets and naming your ship. I just feel Rare doesn't understand what drives players interest. They spend a lot of time on adventures that are completed in 45 minutes. We need more to do especially a new world event. Most world events haven't been balanced so they aren't worth your time. Sea forts are really just supply restock spots at this point. I don't see season changing anything either. I hope they make some big moves soon because the game is extremely stale.

  • @goldsmen You Saying Record them, I already showed them screenshots, when players were live streaming hacks on Discord still they say that it's not a proper evidence, When I was grinding for TSeadog Rare banned me for Spawn Camping, but next day 8 players were spawn camping me, showed them whole 10 Mins Video still they said it's not a proper evidence, A player got Redbeard but he somehow bypassed it and again started playing, when I reported this to Rare they said it's not a proper evidence, So I told them to Check IP of banned player after 10 days Rare messaged me that they caught him and banning the guy but after 2-3 days the same guy is back. I also showed them the website from where people are getting hacks, Previously that website used to sell DESTINY 2 hacks but after filling a law suite by Bungie they stopped making Destiny 2 hacks, So My Question is Why Rare is not serious like other Companies.

  • It's been a good few years since I have ever considered someone was cheating when I was beaten.

    @Xboxonlyservers 👍

  • @clone5724 I have played a lot of GTA ... And I assure you, they use tricks, teleportation, explosive ammo, take away your weapons etc etc .... I have been playing SoT since day one and have been paved many times, never complained of tricks , unfortunately online games on pc give you the opportunity to find them ... but even pay for them ....

Screenshots, and live streams on discord that rare did not see is not evidence, thats why i specified record. As for the 10 min recording when going for a sea dogs accommodation, that may be because it was a totally different game mode that actually had intended people to kill others for said accommodations, while that is not a thing in adventure mode.

  • @goldsmen aah there you go wrong, Me and My friend got Yellowbeard for doing Spawn killing in Arena, we were also completing the seadog commendations, so this is not a proper reason that you got ban becoz of spawn killing in Arena and on other hand when 8 players doing the same thing then it's like they are only completing the commendation :D

  • I've played over 1,100 hours and I can't say I've ever seen any evidence of someone hacking. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I think the issue gets blown out of proportion.

Only once have I thought a crew were questionably good but they were probably just that.. just really good. My crew have been accused of hacking before and threatened with reports, I imagine most of the hacking reports are people losing to good crews and not fully understanding how they were legitimately killed.

Accusing most players who attack other players of hacking is a bit much. My crew will attack every ship we see, why? Because it is fun. When you have done every event, voyage and tall tale 100's of times it gets a bit stale. PvP is always fresh and unpredictable, regardless of the outcome.

  • @jack-lester Do you really think I posted this in forum because it was fun?, My own crew was hacking, those all are having 2000+ hrs, if you face them in fight they will smash you, and you will find that those players are genuine players and you can't even tell that those guys are using hacks, I reported this because I saw them doing livestream in Discord, and after reporting them some of them got banned but somehow they managed to bypass the ban, when reported again they again got banned but again they bypassed it by doing something in Windows.
The real problem is you guys don't want to see or hear the truth, when you say that "OH Because you lose you reported hacking" this is not how world works, By saying this you only protecting cheaters, So please stop protecting these type of players by saying such thing, Do you even know that there are cheats available in market for SOT, were if you give screenshot or livestream the other person can't able to see anything, Everything I had given to support team but those websites are still selling them.

  • the hackers left call of duty warzone, beaten and defeated, arriving at this strange new land fresh with salt the hackers look upon the land when the leader of the ruffians speaks, "new land to conquer, unguarded, unprotected, and full of neglected community members!" he smirks, "boys, double gun them into heck so they can't report us! shout slurs! and spawn camp till they rage quit! mwahahahah!!!" they descended upon them; little did the pirates know they were being put up against hackers for PVP was broken anyways. --a tale of the SOT hackers by an unknown eyewitness.

  • hourglass pvp has a huge problem with teleport hackers, i can barely come out of the water before i have a dude teleport in front of me with an explosive keg for a insta win, they are breaking the game
