Cosmetic Request: Top Surgery Scars

  • Hey.
I am a trans guy and love the LGBT+ rep this game has already. Was wondering if you'd add some cool top surgery scars for pirates who want to wear them proudly.

  • When it comes to tats and scars the more the merrier imo

they are opportunity to express in one way or another

    Welcome in to the forums.

  • I always think having more ways to express ones self is great! I would support this addition to the game.

  • Top surgery scars?
    Like scars on the face?

  • @faceyourdemon Scars on the chest. It's based on surgeries done to a person's breast, whether it be transitioning or changing breast size.

I have to wonder how this scar will make sense to female models when their underwear model automatically has a cloth band covering the chest area.

  • [Mod Edit]

With that said, I'm all for more scars, even surgical ones (with the stitch marks) - just not the kinds of scars that the OP is specifically referencing. Besides, we already have plenty of scars on the chest - the megalodon bite and skeleton scratch scars are both fine examples (if you had been there during their limited time events to have earned them, of course). Speaking of which, all scars have to be earned - how would 1 such pirate earn the scars that you're even suggesting?

  • Ehhh, I'm all for more cosmetics and scars, but maybe not these ones. Doesn't really fit in

  • @nex-stargaze Oh, oh.....
Then big pass on agenda based cosmetics

  • @valaquesse1037 oof surgery back and the age the game is set in would be rough, the scars would probably look like a big shark bit you

  • Im sure that it can be a touchy subject, but im sure that for many, such scars are less of a badge of pride, and sort of a biproduct that serves as a reminder.

Serious bit out of the way... i wouldnt trust pirate surgeons from a time without medical knowledge, sounds like a way to get horrible lock jaw!

  • @faceyourdemon "Agenda based" ? What would be the big bad plan behind introducing an ingame cosmetic ?

Nice way to sugarcoat it, as OP claimed, his reasoning to add them is in Support of the LGBTQ community.
Fully respect him but I dont want to see in any shape or form agenda based cosmetics.
Keep em outside of game, were here to have fun and stay away from real life stuff. Simple

  • @faceyourdemon

So do we need to nuke Emily at Golden Sands as well? They are an agenda character if we go by this logic.

  • @nex-stargaze

Female models already have tattoos and whatnot covered by the band, so I'm guessing this would just be another. Also, I could be wrong but my guess would be that pirates who would be choosing these particular scars would gravitate towards the masculine Pirate types, but of course I'm sure that's not true for everyone.

As for the "surgery was risky in the day so it doesn't make sense", I feel bad that you never blast yourself out of a cannon or teleport by mermaid or use a giant green staff to shoot a damaging energy bubble in game because, you know, "realism". Of course for the hardcore "realism" fans you can always just... Not equip the scar? Hopefully you also aren't using and of the curses because yikes, talk about unrealistic for the time.

This is one of those things that's pretty harmless to incorporate. If people don't want to use the scars they don't have to. It's not anything tied directly to a hate group like requesting a swastika or something be in game.

  • @goldsmen

And for those in which that's true they would not have to equip them, yes? Such as someone who lost a limb in real life and was sensitive to it wouldn't have to equip a peg leg or hook for a hand. Player choice!

  • @thorumsu Radically stupid and only proves my point, shows the inability to discuss about things without keyboard warriors to show up and take it to the extreme.

  • @faceyourdemon

You are not even giving any context and calling me a keyboard warrior?

    Ok then.

It's not "agenda based" because having an agenda supposes having a plan. There is no plan here : he would simply like to see a certain cosmetic introduced that resonate with (I assume) his real life scars. Imo that's the extent of it really.
It's the same thing as people wanting specific pets to recreate their IRL one in game for instance.

This specific cosmetic option existing doesn't impact the fun of the game, it serves no mechanical purposes. To me it will simply join the long list of cosmetics I'm not using, to some others maybe it will be a great addition to the game. My fun will remain the same, theirs might be increased (or not, idk). It cost us nothing.

I could understand someone not supporting a suggestion that does nothing for them, but to oppose it seems like an overreaction.

  • There are multiple reasons that one may use these scars, from style preference to different personal reasons.

They would be be available to everyone without requirement or obligation.

There is a big difference between a company getting involved with capitalizing on the work/cause of an organization while offering escapism and serving participants of the product.

There is no agenda in serving people that participate in the product beyond serving more people when it comes to something like scars. They can be used by anyone for any reason.

Serving people that are here is not serving agenda, it's serving community.

  • Ahoy!

OP, thank you for your considerate request. I will pass it on to the cosmetics team as we often do with requests such as these. That does not mean it make it into game, but gives the artists an idea of what our players are talking about.

Regrettably after having to police this thread for too many transphobic comments I will now be locking it.

A reminder that the seas are for everyone, regardless of race, age, gender identity and more. We may be pirates, but we accept all. We do not judge. We have kindness in our hearts, empathy, and understanding.

    Happy sailing.
