Would it be possible to add wakes to ships? As in, the displacement of water as a ship sails through it. Could have it as a fun little cosmetic you can turn on and off in your settings, like you can with rats, but I think you could also use it to add a slight 'slipstream' effect to ships - if you sail in a ship's wake, you sail marginally faster. That way, slower ships can catch up to faster ships, but only if they are precise in their sailing and the ship being chased can still outmanoeuvre them to try and shake them. Of course, wakes only should have a certain limit, too. A galleon shouldn't be able to use your wake from two islands away to catch you down, but they should be able to use it if they're juuuust out of harpoon range.
Adding a ship's wake.
@galactic-geek not everyone digs through the SOT threads as much as you. I see you on every topic. He made a suggestion. Chill out.

I am chill. I offered a suggestion that might offer him answers far more quickly than waiting for a reply that may never come. It also happens to save the forum from being inundated with repetitive threads. Stop being so critical of others (that's my area of expertise) - in other words, chill out.
Server limitations.
We have 5 ships because of all the physics calculations being done.
Ship's wake like a LOT of other environmental suggestions would put additional toll on server performance. Unless you like hit reg and backtracking? Probably not a good idea without giving up pvp or stacking loot...
