Rare needs to fix their server connectivity issues. Anytime someone has issues with their connection, it's immediately dubbed as rubber banding and blamed on a users internet connection.
The problem is, it's not always rubber banding. You could have your joystick(example since i play console) aimed straight, running, and your character will end up 5ft to the left or right.
Rubber banding, or latency, in a connection; is caused when there is a delay in the connection, resulting in the server not acquiring all data from the users connection. Resulting in the player ending up 3, 5 or 10ft back. Or if they turn at some point, it didn't register the turn so you end up where you would have been if you went straight.
But if your character is running a straight line, without turning, say going down a dock. And you end up 5ft to the right, in the water, and you take fall damage because it didn't register that you hit water, that is 100% a server side issue that needs to be resolved.
