  • Not sure if this is just a flex or if you're actually superhuman and can see that many FPS.

  • @sweetsandman It is not. Its a tale as old as time, frames win games... sometimes anyways. Its a pretty common fallacy that you cant notice the difference that much after 144, but believe me, playing CSGO on my steam deck on a 144 hz monitor at 144 fps vs the 450 fps on PC is very noticeable.

  • The cap is there to protect hardware (see New World launch and the GPUs it inadvertently killed). Your system might be able to handle it but the vast majority of players' PCs wouldn't and Rare doesn't want to responsible for their hardware failures.

This isn't a competitive twitch shooter and there are few advantages to extremely high FPS when it's already negated by high pings and low tick rate.

And, yes, I do get what you mean about high frame rates. But that's less to do with the human eye perceiving each of the frames and more to do with those frames rendering quicker and the ones your eye sees being closer in time to reality (latency). The result being that games feel "tighter".

Comparing your PC performance to your Steam Deck is not a good measurement (I have one, I know). There's far more going on there than raw frame rate, and it's worth bearing in mind frame pacing and buffering, even if it's showing 144Hz.

  • they deleted arena because only 3% of the players played it.... you want them to remove an FPS cap because .000000000001% of the players have a monitor/pc setup that can handle it?

  • Screen tearing is a thing. FPS higher than your refresh rate is a generally bad idea. 1440p 300Hz monitors just started rolling out and I doubt you have one.

Also quoting new 40 series RTX cards when referencing a nearly 5 year old game just seems like wasted money and hardware. Especially considering the only specs on the market are for a card meant for 4k 120Hz gaming at a minimum and up to 8k 60Hz as a standard.

This is a better ask for the next SoT game to include a higher cap.

  • Ok then... What? I mean I found 1 monitor on the market that goes over 300 at 360Hz and I really doubt you can see the difference between 300 and 360... In fact I doubt you can see the difference between 144 and 360. Else than that if you don't have a monitor that can support over 300 why do you want this...

  • As the OP appears to have deleted their post, I'll be dropping anchor here.
