It would be great if we could get some variations to the basic Sailor hull with different wood finishes. They could add some nice options for pirates who want a "classic" ship look, without the frills and trimmings of existing painted hulls.

I would envisage that they would work like the basic Sailor Hull, so they should do the interior as well.

Big upvote from me. All the basic colored sails available and no matching hulls/cannons/etc.
What actually prompted me to make this post was that I found an old screenshot from the Scale Test in early March 2018 and the sloop had a full green hull... I don't remember what that hull was, but it doesn't seem to have made it into the game.
As well as the wood stain variations above, it would be great to just get basic painted hulls the same colours as the basic sails.
