Removal of Animation

  • Good Day Pirates,

The removal of Animation for the following- Weapon Swap's, Reload, Bucket, cannon and Food. This just make sense no one cares about the exploits better to remove the animation all together makes it part of the game removes the huge advantage of PC players macroing buttons to string together exploits. Very simple requested to level the game playing field.

I like the Animation do think it makes the game play more of a challenge let's be real Rare you condone exploits, or you do something to stop it. Then there are your SOT Streamers promoting it. Simple solution remove animation so game can go back to being every player has the same advantages.

  • @lt-robinson25 there's only one animation I want to be gone...the one when you touch the top of a ladder, probably everybody knows this one

For your suggestion...no, I think it would need a bit adjustment, so these makros aren't relevant that much...exploits are worked on anyway, animation canceling for example

  • I'd rather they just fix the exploits. I have heard that they added a hard-coded 1-second delay to firing a second weapon or something, so while the animation-canceling sprint-swap still is technically faster than normal play, it is not significantly faster. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

I don't think removing animation from the game is the direction they should go. This is a cartoon pirate adventure game, not a FPS shooter, no matter how many people try to make it that. In the end, someone who has played long enough to have their muscle-memory hardcoded to pull of the animation cancel flawlessly will beat me in battle anyway, as I am but a humble casual with my sword. No need to try to make the game what it is not.

  • No, the game would become significantly uglier and doublegun would be way more of the meta than it already is.

  • to me it's like the camping discussion

it's largely skill that gets people to what they are doing (excluding macros) and it's largely skill that gets people out of it

The people that do this successfully are quite skilled in a scenario where they are often fighting people far less skilled than them. A skilled sword user with strong strategy will chop em up.

I can do it and I'm not gonna hit much because I'm not a great shot.

This (like the camping thing) means that it isn't going to change outcome as skill is what locks it down and gets out of it.

  • What? Wouldn’t removing the animation benefit macro users?

  • @wolfmanbush

Would you say that being able to animation cancel is not an Advantage? That by exploiting is rather skill against a non-exploit player or rather players?
The fact that canceling the animation gives an average player 1.5 sec faster action by mathematically speaking is not skill but an advantage above a non-exploiting player. This does not come down to whether you think animation canceling is right or wrong but the fact that it's clearly an advantage. Macroing eliminates the chance of an error by a push a button. The animation speed bucketing is back as displayed by a YouTuber and well know SOT Streamer. Solo player can easily maintain their ship when badly damaged. This in turn becomes more about boarding than navel.

To me animation belongs because it gives the game balance adds to being a pirate. apparently, there is another exploit to eliminate the pause when using a sword, I have not gone out of my way to look for it. Truth of the matter in the course of three years they have done anything to resolve the animation cancel in many of ways condone it without publicly stating it by allowing SOT streamers to use set actions.

So, in conclusion until a permeant fix can be put in place just eliminate animation all together, I mean it would remove the argument of players who play the game the way it was developed same advantage. If the exploit player skilled they should care in the least unless they need that 1.5 sec advantage/skill or so you say it's skill. My take on it is they will find another leg up somehow because not winning a fight is hard pill for them to swallow.

The end of the day want the game to stand for what it's stated several times fair game play for all does not matter if your day one or an OG you have the same advantages.

Sure if someone can perform. Someone like me with a lot of experience and is just eh at pvp messes me up more than helps me. If it's not done just right and with accuracy it slows people down more than it gives an advantage.

I'm mainly just stating that I think people see some of this stuff as what is causing them the losses and that is ultimately what holds them back in the fights as there is typically a counter for what someone else is doing.

If this weren't a skilled based thing I'd be more against it. Like the water mouse shaking thing, that's not skill based and interferes in combat.

  • @klutchxking518

No not at all as they string along buttons to eliminate the animation. This would just remove the animation to give all players same action with the animation it's meant to give a delay as to simulate the time an action takes. Animation canceling removes the simulation of that action increasing that time by 1.5 secs.

  • @lt-robinson25 How about we fix the macro stringing from working instead of framing an issue to be the excuse for buffing double gunners and hyper bucketers?
