Weather

  • I'd like to suggest two improvements in weather :

    • Most of the times we should have just rain (from stratus clouds , without lightnings or damage) causing obvious visibility reduction and a lot of water to bucket out ; thunderstorms could be more intense and happen less frequently;
    • Fog should also happen in the middle of the map. Btw , sea fogs commonly are formed by light winds and being a game winds could be less intense then, like half velocity.

    Devs , thank you for this beautiful game.

    There are only 2 storms in the SoT - 1 that travels across the map, and the static 1 that never moves from the Siren Queen's castle.

    Fog comes from the edges of the map because it's an extension of the Shroud.

    If wind blew at only half velocity, our saing ships would slow down dramatically.

  • @unleet1 , you're not wrong about the winds so I edited my post , thank you. Note , however , that you're referring to a specific type of advection fog , like the one formed at San Francisco Bay (strong winds , cold water ) . The common advection fogs are formed when moist is carried by light winds over cooler waters. If I'm not wrong , SoT is supposed to be in the Caribbean , where the sea is not as cold as in parts of Californian coast. In this case , it's acceptable to expect common advection fog and yes , light winds.

    I don’t remember seeing a Sea of Thieves in the Caribbean on my globe. Maybe I should check google maps. The sea of thieves waters may be freezing in some areas. There are all kinds of fantastical creatures in there. No telling what is affecting the water temperature.
