Move the "Replace (trinket)" pop-up

  • Currently if you look at a painting or any trinket at all there's a pop-up merssage telling you (PC) F Replace Prized 'Striking it Rich' for example which blocks a decent chunk of the painting so you can't really look at it except if you spyglass it from 2-3m away. Not a huge issue obviously but would be nice if the text got moved down to the frame at least.

  • Yes, I just want to look at my ghost ship painting Rare!

  • Agreed.
If I'm trying to access a food barrel on my sloop I keep accidentally clicking the "replace" button. It wouldn't be so annoying if my game didn't freeze everytime I did it...

  • @sailorkek Yeah, starts being a bit too much stuff down there now

  • @itz-majman
It would be cool if Rare could add a 'lock' feature. Maybe you could decorate your ship and then finalize it by selecting a lock setting in the menu tab? Presumably, this could get rid of 'replace' button prompt and, to avoid inadvertently selecting your trinkets, you wouldn't be able to change anything on your ship until you reverse the lock setting in the menus.

  • @itz-majman I made a post about a week ago about how they should have some sort of option to temporarily lock the interaction. I totally agree with you, aspecially on the sloop it's really anoying accidently clicking it and their fricken everywhere.

  • @mintharp184509 ye actually this is prob the best idea, only near the shipright, i like it! Hope Rare is listening!

  • This is no longer sea of thieves. Seems like sea of inconvenient prompts all over your ship. trying to grab food of the stove? well a wave just shifted my camera now im changing the trinket next to the pan. Sloop is so small you cant back up to actually look at your paintings without a prompt to replace them. Between sit prompts and trinket prompts its getting messy.

  • Do please introduce an option to disable prompts for things like trinkets and also sitting. From the perspective of someone who is physically disabled, all these extra prompts make it harder and also more painful to play the game. When I go to interact with a barrel, the cook stove, the map table, loot, etc... and I am instead placed into a sit or into a menu. I then have to press buttons more times than intended to do the thing I originally meant to do, since I now have to back out of what I was doing and try again. This in turn causes additional pain during play sessions and makes it where I have to leave the game sooner than I would have liked. I have been intentionally avoiding playing on captained ships on days when I'm not feeling the best to save myself from the extra wear and tear of accidental interactions that happen way too often.

  • You already have a solution - 2, in fact!
Solution #1: Set toggle HUD to off.
Solution #2: Set fixed position for interact prompts to on.

  • How about when you aren’t the captain and the captain has disabled the crew from changing trinkets. Why should I even see the prompt if I’m not even allowed to change anything.

    Good suggestion! 👍

  • There is an option to change this to where it appears at the bottom of your screen instead of floating on the picture.
That’s what I’ve done and no issues since doing so. Give it a try

I tried toggle HUD off. It’s only useful for photos. You have no health bar or anything. I wish we could pick and choose what we want on our HUD like in other games that would be much better.

Can confirm though your second solution works very well I currently use that myself.

You still can put the trinkets in the correct position ...

So, why not just hide the prompts until something gets bumped out of place? Seems simple enough...

Oh, I'm all in favour of option of removal of prompts, no matter the role of the person or the state of the trinket.

  • At minimum make it so you can only change trinkets at an outpost.

Not sure about this 1 - I like being able to swap them out while at Sea.

  • I like the idea someone had of a “decoration mode” where the prompts were all hidden until you turned that mode on. Either in the menus, or interacting with something specific on the voyage table or on the book shelf. Personally would like it in the menu under the same section where you can choose to allow your crew to change things or not. Rename tab to “ship customization” and have on/off for crew allowed and decoration mode.

  • @galactic-geek

Didn't know about this, that's quite nice. Not 100% what I wished it was but way better than the current way they have it. Thank you!

  • @lucky11 Excellent idea! It does take away from the look of the items in the ship with the text always showing up! Fair Winds and Following Seas!

I had the funniest mental pic of us standing, sitting, cooking, changing trinkets all while actually trying to access boards to keep from sinking! Agree it's getting crowded in the sloop and hope they are able to implement an improvement to the ever present text. Thank you for the laugh! Fair Winds and Following Seas!
