Spawn campers - How can I make your gameplay experience more enjoyable?

  • I am a huge advocate for people being able to enjoy this game. In fact, my pleasure often comes before others. Not just in this game, but in life. I achieve a smile, knowing how I have contributed to somebody else smiling.

In the last few days, I have encountered 3 galleons who love to catch me off-guard when I have just spawned in my little sloop.

I assume that 3-man spawn camping me in my baby sloop when I have no treasure is a very fun gameplay experience, and I play into it. I mean, people are smiling and spawn camping me, even after 15-20 minutes of doing so. However, they eventually stop, which means they are likely becoming miserable at some point. Certainly not the sort of thing I want to cause somebody to feel after a long, hard day at work!

So, spawn campers. How can I make your gameplay experience more enjoyable when you are spawn camping me on my sloop? Would you like me to run around a little bit? I have mostly been standing still, waiting for the inevitable blunderbuss to my head, but I am able to run around like a headless chicken, if you wish? But, then again, I can't imagine those spawn camping freshly spawned-in sloopers are much in it for the thrill of the chase.

If I knew what people got out of the whole spawn camping thing, I can make the experience SO much more pleasurable. I really can. I just need to know what YOU want.

I donate to several mental health charities, and I can imagine that this is going to be my contribution on the 'front lines'

  • Spawn camping got you down?
Why not try the ever so special, Scuttle?

It fast and easy. Only comes in handy when your unable to get out of a problem.

  • @burnbacon I don't think you understand. I wish to assist these people in their enjoyment. To do that, I need to get to the bottom of why it is such a rush for them.

  • Hello
The reason the spawn campers get bored is because they need variety. They get bored after shooting the same person over and over again…I suggest you bring along some friends to give them a choice on who to spawn camp. That way they can go and spawn camp someone else if they get bored of doing it to you. However be warned that going in a galleon may scare the spawn campers away because they will think you’re trying to ruin their fun. I suggest you bring 3 friends in a brig or make sure they know you’re not an enemy by using signal flares. The best solution though is to ally with some sloops and then take turns getting spawn camped. That way the spawncampers will not feel overwhelmed but will still have variety.
    Cheers, the real Webber.

  • First thing I like to do is decorate to make sure the vibe is bright and warm. That way when they dance around it helps them stay positive during their celebratory exercise as I head on back to the ferry.

I like to offer a varied and quality spread.
Only the finest fruit trays, pork n pineapple, tender bbq snake, grog chicken/fish

If I don't end up in the top 3 of the most welcoming sloops that they camped that week I feel like I really just didn't try hard enough.

I think I figured out a possible solution for you. It is as @realwebber69 says about variety. However bringing a friend with the same attitude as you might be hard to find.

Have you tried running to the clothing chest to change your outfit while they're spawn camping you. I mean the spawn camper is a simple minded person, so it might fool them into thinking you're someone else. Maybe you could even try and replace some trinkets so they think they're on a different ship as well. I'm pretty certain that doing that will definitely keep them entertained longer. If you practice the wardrobe change and get it to a professional level like full wardrobe every minute, I'd say you can keep them entertained for hours on end.

Another thing that might add to the immersion is to try using voice recordings of different cries and screams to play over ingame voice chat (best combined with wardrobe changes). Usually they get fueled by crying about how they're ruining your experience. Although this might be a tricky one because they could be in xbox party chat / discord. However you could try it out.

Good luck on your journey, keep us informed of your progress. It's always good to know what these misunderstood simpletons crave.

Your post deservers an ingame easter egg. Have my upvote.

Now I want to be spawncamped too to try and pull off the wardrobe change stuff. I'm not a completionist but if there was a commendation for it I would grind the hell out of it. :D

While I think your heart is in the right place, I find that spawncampers don't tend to enjoy these types of food. Even if they do eat it, they usually seem to be disgusted by the taste.
Which is why after some experimenting on the stove, I have found the perfect recipe that is a succes at every spawncamping session; a delicous plate of dirt and bait curry!

This curry is made from only the finest dirt and only the most innocent, defencless creatures we find within the dirt, which is then spiced up with a fresh bucket of vomit from a very big drinking session, and then served with a drink of "my tears" (it's actually just seawater, don't tell them that though!) I find that the spawncampers eat this yummy meal faster than they shoot me in the head! And if they eat it all they'll get to have dessert-a nice yummy sand cake, covered in mud for icing!

  • @pirateryang what you could try to do is to put up a fight. I have been once fightig two pirates on their brig, with my ship sunk and teammates left. And the reason why those 10 minutes were so fun was their attempts to kill me as well. Its the thrill of the fight that i enjoyed, so maybe if u can put up a good fight they won't stop. However if u want them to leave just stay still.

  • @pirateryang 🤣🤣🤣

  • You might try attempting to get away, too, but don’t try too hard lest you succeed. Try to raise the anchor or drop a sail; often (particularly in the lower life forms with simpler brains) escape attempts by prey will excite the predator and keep them engaged.

  • @pirateryang they don't actually enjoy it, "they're just ensuring the sink."

Or so I've been told 😂

  • They're just trying to help you with those Ill-Fated trips to the Ferry milestones /s

  • @thagoochiestman It's odd, how come it takes a ship 20 minutes to sink under the care and feeding of spawncampers, but only a minute or two when the kraken is babysitting?

  • Fight back, make it a challenge. Understand that frustration also comes from hit reg and server desync. Or try being funny, don't beg.

  • @pirateryang dude that sucks the only time I even get behind spawn camping a sloop is when we are taking their supplies outside that we sink them unless we know they have no loot or an emissary flag

  • Have you tried not being caught off guard by a Galleon?

  • Be sure to Shout Out your socials, just in case you make it into the "3p1k T4g3 bruh"!

In the last few days, I have encountered 3 galleons who love to catch me off-guard when I have just spawned in my little sloop.

I played sooooooooooooo much and I never got spawned camped by someone when I just logged in, this is weird for me.

I get that this is funny post and bla bla bla, but for real, why don't you just scuttle and go to another server? At the end you spent 20 minutes dying again and again?

I personally think you're exaggerating all this situation, because once again, 3 galleons in last few days? How? Maybe you're getting caught "off-guard" like you said somewhere in the seas and you just salty?

I looked at your last post about kraken "15 times I have logged in over the last day or so. 14 times the Kraken has attacked me the second I leave the outpost. Getting frustrating." How?

Your post doesn't make sense, how do you even get off guard when you just logged in?

  • Regardless of the accuracy in reporting, this thread has spawned such entertaining posts as @wolfmanbush’s Martha Stewart moment and @FishSt1ck’s fantastic idea to change cosmetics between deaths.

Hate to be an “ends justify the means” guy, but, well…

  • If you have no food left in your inventory, what you do is escape the insta-blunder/snipe kill, run downstairs (or upstairs, water..anywhere out of sight line) and Alt-F4. They won't know what happened, they might even think you tucked if you were on ship, and will check all around ship plus in water. They may even check ferry after a while. You can then rejoin session and come back and do the same thing. It's slightly toxic and cheesy but funny if you get the right crew and they aren't sinking you. :D

  • I think there’s some confusion here. Some people are saying to put up a fight…DON’T DO THAT!!!
Spawncampers are there to shoot you over and over again, not for an actual fair fight! If you challenge them too much, they’ll either get scared they’ll have to actually try and run away OR they’ll continue on but they’ll be very upset….

Do what @sn0kanon suggested and try and escape by raising anchor or running…but don’t try too hard or you might actually get away…and make sure you act REALLY mad when they chainshot/blunderbluss you.
That’s the key to making sure they have a good time. Make sure you ACT mad. If they think you’re having too much fun, they won’t like that and they will leave…instead get mad, yell, swear, break something! Spawncampers like it when you act mad, even if you’re not! If you find it hard to be mad…I’m sure the internet has you covered.
So in conclusion, give them variety, don’t challenge them TOO much and make sure you act mad.
