I vote that esteemed reaper cannons are the best for accuracy. My rationale is they have a number of distinct markings on the barrel that act as a rangefinder.
This leads me to the quick tip. For years I've always shot using the angle, meaning if the ship were far away you fire a shot see where it landed adjust and then find a feature in the sky or on the mast to shoot at.
Forget all that, the intuitive method is complete trash. And I considered myself a good gunner before I found this trick (as I'm sure others have found already).
Use the barrel to Guage distance and just aim right through the barrel. For instance imagine you had a barrel with a ruler on it. 1-12.
The further the target the more you raise your angle, but what this effectively does is it raises the marks on the ruler on the barrel. So Maybe the target is centered on the mark 4. Or mark 6. Or 12. Etc.
So rather than finding some distant target or cloud or top of mast or whatever to shoot at. Just line the mark up on the hull of the ship.
This simple change to your gunnery is guaranteed to 2x your skill.
