I really enjoy this game. However, it needs a better in-game way to find like minded players to form a crew with. A game that is obviously designed to have players playing together should not force people to use third party, out of game programs like Discord or the X-box app to get linked up and organized. I'd love to see the 'Open Crew' button removed and replaced with 'Find a Crew.' If you clicked this, you would be taken to an in-game lobby server where you could find other players to group with. Rare could go the simple route and make the lobby text based similar to how the X-box app works or they could really make it cool and make the lobby an actual place. Imagine clicking on the 'Find a Crew' button and popping into a special instanced island with say, 50-100 other players who are also looking for a crew. There would be no supplies here and all weapons and equipment would be disabled except for tankards and musical instrument. You would be able to see everyone's avatar, talk directly, join a crew or recruit your own all while chugging a tankard of grog or playing some music. Once an accord has been reached, the crew goes to the dock where a sloop, brig, and galleon is tied up at the pier. When everyone clicks on the appropriate ship, they're then transported to an outpost on a live map ready to start their misadventures. Make finding a crew a fun part of the game rather than a hassle!
Better Way to Find a Crew
@valandros76 Why does Rare need to develop another feature like this when there are already pretty good systems out there for finding/assembling a crew? This just seems unnecessary.
I agree that the find a crew option is not good on this game, and LFG”s are just useless.
But being in a instance/pregame lobby, with 50-100 other SoT players? That’s a big no from me. I mean the tavern waiting area for arena was bad enough and that was only a few players. Sadly not all, but many of the SoT player base have limited ability to interact with one another on what would be called a “normal level”
