Pirate Creation...

  • I spend my time in Sea of Thieves hitting Pg dn to generate Pirates looking for a Pirate that I like.

This is the dumbest way to create a player character that I have ever seen.

At least give a way to narrow down what players are looking for in a Pirate and allow us to select what body type, gender or if the randomized Pirates have scars or tattoos or not...

The ability to favorite a Pirate is nice and all and would be even nicer if the Character Creator would take into consideration on what Pirates you have Favorited and generate more Pirates that are similar to what you have locked as a Favorite.

Maybe one day I will find a Pirate that I like and finally be able to actually play the game and have fun, until that day I guess I will just keep generating.

Heck, I'd even be willing to pay an extra fee to be able to Create the Pirate I want, put a more advanced option of Character Creation in the game that allows the players to have total control over the Creation of their Character and charge $50.00 and I guarantee you will see a lot of revenue from it.

  • @deven-darkheart The infinite pirate generator (IPG) was designed to create pirates out of players' comfort zones. You are meant to have a character with flaws. We are pirates after all. The goal of not having filters is that maybe you will see that pirate that you would have never considered playing or picking or designing and choose him/her.

The general consensus on the forums on this topic is a gender slider would be the only acceptable slider as most players are going to pick one or the other. Age/Weight generally fall into the questionable category as form would a filter be tolerable. Full customization is never going to happen though. They built the IPG to be this way on purpose. My advice would be to pick a pirate close enough to what you are hoping for, do a few emotes in game and make sure it has all its teeth etc and move on. If not delete and go back to the IPG.

    Good Luck.

    So..removing the whole randomization then?

Really? That is what holding you back from enjoying the game where you are 98% of the time just viewing your hands and the world, never really seeing your body unless Emoting or shopping.
Man...you missing out so much because of a minor thing.

  • The player base on this game consists of 90% pace wannabe, all black outfit wearing fools, and 10% people with their own minds.

If you took away the random generator the 90% pace wannabe, all black outfit wearing fools would not only dress the same, but look identical too.

It’s deliberately designed so characters are a little more unique, as has been discussed many many times.

I do however feel your pain for having to sit in the generator for ages picking

  • Yes, the game should have a proper character customization.

    Yes, the IPG is garbage.

Yes, this forum's userbase mostly consists of gatekeepers with bad opinions presented as arguments.

No, theres nothing you can do except keep generating for 10+ hours like even some developers did until you find a semi-decent looking character that doesnt look like a drunk toothless pinocchio.

    bad opinions?

  • @deven-darkheart This entire system was designed intentionally, they wanted them to be randomly generated with a lot of specific traits because they believed if people created their own pirates, that "they would not be ugly enough". They dont want 10000 mega chads and jack sparrows sailing the seas.

  • @alienmagi Bit rude.

Or make sure it doesn't have all its teeth, if that's what floats yer boat... We're pirates, after all.

    Either way. Good advice.

You must have got an F in charm school...

  • I personally love it, the heavy RNG and the slim chance of you ever finding someone that looks exactly like you
