I've noticed a few things that by themselves are great but together could be an exploit for getting the Athena Voyages Completed milestones that unlock ship cosmetics.
- If you have an active captain voyage and log out, it seems like the number of voyages available in your stock does not reduce. I could be wrong, but the few times I've tried that seems to be the case. Canceling a voyage without logging out, on the other hand, does reduce the number in your stock.
- The milestone tracks each individual page as a "voyage," as opposed to completing the entire thing. This is obviously intentional and very much appreciated. For us players who only have time for short expeditions, it makes the milestone attainable, and we love you for it.
- You get credit for Athena cargo missions when you pick up the cargo, not when you deliver it. I think that's always been the case but not actively tracked in "milestones" until now.
So the exploit would be what's to stop players from loading a captain's Athena voyage, which often has one of the cargo deliveries to be picked up at the outpost from which they spawned, picking up the cargo and dropping it on the dock, rinse and repeat? Theoretically for a tiny bit of gold you don't even need to log out and back in, you can just cancel the voyage and load a new one. I say theoretically because I tested it that way and when I canceled and loaded a new voyage all the cargo missions it gave me were to be picked up elsewhere, but I suspect that was luck.
Not that it matters. It doesn't affect me if other people use exploits to get the same cosmetics I'm working towards, but I figured I may as well point it out.
