Ability to hide your gamertag/username on ship crest

  • Since the captaincy update I've been getting a lot of nasty messages from PVP hungry players. After 2 hours of playing I had 5 messages from other players.

  • @reddishguitar Just delete the messages if they are coming to your xbox inbox and block them, don't even bother to reply as that is what they want.

Iirc there's a toggle to change your username and shipname in the settings.

Those settings are more for when the player is streaming if they don't want the stream to see what the names of the crew, players and ship they are on at the time are.. don't think it works to cover it when others are eyeing them unless they also have this enabled at the time.

If you are talking about streamer mode then that's only client sided.

  • @reddishguitar The best way to handle is to just report the messages. People gotta learn to let things go. When they go off the game, they are breaking Microsoft's own rules. Though the communication suspensions are rarely for more than a few days, if they keep piling up eventually they will get either a) account ban, b) hardware ban, or c) both.

  • Of course it should exist

if people want to name their ship but have a little more privacy that is perfectly acceptable

there isn't any benefit to excluding those people from participating

    • I keep running into the same pirate named “ Nine Cat Nura”. Four months now this pirate has harassed me and no reports keep them away.

For this example, it just poor idea to block user names and expect reporting to work together. Since you won’t know there real name to even.

Generally blocking at the xbox live level should prevent chances of them being in the same game session as you hence why its suggested for most players if they don't want to encounter those issue players again.
