  • @pabio-escobar when you leave the game (by clicking leave game) the ship already reverts to a non captained ship only if you leave game in a non conventional way (lazybeard, alt-f4) you leave behind a captains log book

  • Are you sure about that?

    He is correct.

Also I don't really see any value in your idea due to the fact that captains have no benefit for holding a high value log.

  • Well tbh the log book currently is worthless to the captain and the other players. So either have a commendation for handing them in. Or just make them a permanent fixture of the boat. I don’t understand why they float and are available to sell.
I didn’t know that your book doesn’t float by leaving correctly. Makes sense I guess. Thanks

The value of the logbook from other ships is to give you an idea of how long the ship you have just sank has been in the session since it was last sank. They get handed into the hideout the same as emissary flags.

I literally sold 16 day before last sinking Logbooks after REAL LONG AND SWEATY battles (Yep I sunk and returned a lot) and it still gave me 300 gold... 8 day logbooks gave me 300 gold too. This update is still unfunctional even after 2 delays.

Also why don't we have commendations for Logbooks turned in?? Normally new features gets commendations tied to them. This was always the case. Even seaforts had commendations even though Rare did not have any rewards to give. Why not this time???

Oh wait I forgot... Rare does not want their little new "captains' to pirate or get pirated... in their pirate game.

Ramsey really praises captains with all the "Only true captains like you can do this" and all too... Well who said he was smart? He already lets people that doesnt know the diffrence between a FOF and FOTD take the title of "legend" XD

  • Rare really fumbled the ball with these, such a potentially cool feature but for some reason they tied it to hours spent on a particular server instead of specific stats on that server like gold earned or ships sunk or something. And the scaling on them is crazy, you will amost never see anybody with a Remarkable or Extraordinary logbook. I get why the default ones are worth so little but they should really halve the time required for each tier. More than 4 hours unsunk on a server is already insanely uncommon even among good players, most will end their session long before then or hop to a fresh server. 8 is just silly, nobody is doing that except novelty streamers stacking loot.

Def is a bug in those sessions then, I have only seen Noteworthy ones so far even in the longer sessions I would play the last few days so can't report on it from my side yet. Those numbers were from the main wiki for the game.

    As for the commendations:

It's there but does not seem to be tracking so yea.

  • @th3xr34p3r Ahoy matey!

The ship manifests commendation you mention there is the ship manifests found in the Merchant Alliance voyage... not the ones added in the Captaincy update.

  • @musicmee ah, should be made clearer then just by updating it to Merchant Manifests instead of Ship, as Ship just tells me player due to it being the PvP faction.

And you can't see the merchant alliance icon?

  • @thorumsu Was not looking closer at it, was going by name only when I was grabbing the screenshot, but yes I see that logo now. Naming convention suggestion stands should they add the captains log to the commendations at a later date just for at a glance tracking.

I like it the way it is, so that I can view other ships names... it doesent affect you in anyway if a logbook is floating in the water next to you so why worry about it? I'm not apposed to the idea of a commendation but completely removing the ability to lose your logbook is stupid... when server hopping it also allows me to know when I have been on the same server which is kinda cool

  • I would like change my view on the log book. I don’t mind if it’s dropped in the water, but I still stand by the fact it’s pointless and severs little to no purpose.

What I would like to see however is an option to designate a new captain. So if you get DC’d and can’t rejoin, or just want your friend to take a go ranking his ship up then you can go and vote a new captain. Mainly for the DC’ing issue, but it could be useful in other ways too

No, the manifests are the books in the merchant "manifest" voyages and the logbook is the one on your ship... doesent need to be clearer it's just difficult to understand at first glance..
