Captain's Logbook not working - Bug?

  • Me and my friends have the same issue. The captain's logbook doesn't update the ship's history info. These info are permanently set at zero, but the session data is regurarly updated. Is it a bug or there are something we are doing wrong?
And then, the price for selling a stolen logbook at reaper's hideout is freaking ridiculous. How it is possible that if you sink a captained ship you get only 300 gold for selling its logbook? It's like a seafarer chest!!!

  • @sz-zigo The logbooks increase in value the longer that ship has been sailing for that session. They are worth 300 coins if they haven't been sailing for very long.

With the number of logbooks I found floating at the outpost upon logging in, it was probably a good idea to make them not worth very much.

  • @d3adst1ck Ah ok, but it's a shame that's limited for a single session. It will be very rarely to found someone that playing 8+ hours in a single session. I think that could be better if the price is related at the entire period from last sinking of that ship instead the single session.

  • Look at the milestones you want to track. You’ll have the option to put 4 ship milestones and 3 pirate milestones in your logbook for tracking.

  • @sz-zigo If it worked that way, there would multiple copies of the same ships many thousand coin logbooks floating at outposts from ships hopping servers.

  • @drbullhammer yes but i can't find in the milestones the count of the gold earned or the days at sea.

  • @d3adst1ck The developers should think a fix for this problem related with server hopping. In this way we will never find a extraordinary captain's logbook. Last night i've sink 2 emissaries grade 5 but their logbooks weren't in the loot because i suppose that their captain had quit from the session.

  • @sz-zigo ya same problem here it isn't updating the ships history

  • @realmorpus sagte in Captain's Logbook not working - Bug?:

I guess ship history updates after the session...that's why there is a log for the current session...that's what I think

  • @roborob-r66y Ahoy matey!

what happens in Insiders stays in Insiders... even after a product has launched. It's the whole reason for signing the NDA.

Got the exact same issue here, however still happens after 3 play sessions. Don't know what is going on with it. If it is a bug I hope they fix it soon though.

So I guess my theory is just a bug...yeah, hope they fix it soon

Have you actually set what is displayed for the ship or is it set to the defaults? It's not very intuitive, but it seems like the default ship stats in the log don't work and you need to specify which ones to show (even if they are the exact same) and then the log will actually show numbers.

    Try this:

    • Go into Ship's Log screen, open Ship Milestones
    • Find a milestone. There are now two keys you can use. When you press '1' on PC (not sure on xbox counterpart) it will pin this milestone to the Ship's Log page for quick access. If you press '2' though (again, no idea for xbox) this will set this milestone to be displayed in the log.

The keys/buttons you need to press to pin and add to ship's log should be shown along the bottom of the screen. This isn't explained anywhere during the tutorial or while you have the logbook open in front of you for some reason, but I suspect it's why a lot of stats are showing empty.

What they should do is have a blank page or a page telling you how to set the stats in the log instead of defaulting to (non-working) ones or force set the defaults for each ship that hasn't set them yet.

  • @d3adst1ck I've done exactly this and while the pinned stats are available via the captaincy menus, the log book itself stays blank. Only the current session updates, not the history. Two other friends, both in PC and Xbox, are having the same issue.

Can confirm this worked for me. Had to actually select the milestones I wanted in the log. Be sure to select from the ship milestone menu, not pirate.

  • Xbox default is X to track and Y to show off

  • @shortman00 there are two different pins - one places it in the summary menu and the other is specifically for the ship log.

It sounds like you only pinned it to the summary.
