Captained Ship Rare Miss the Mark again.

  • Good day Pirates,

I, give this update a 5 out of 10 this may change don't think so. Captained Ship Logbook was looking forward to this what a letdown. Keeps no records of pirate kills or other ships sunk. The biggest disappointment does not track record past the play session meaning time at sea, miles, last sunk, and more. It does keep record of Gold earned don't care. Why would this be important make the value of your ship that much more important. If you have not sunk in 50 in game days the value of your logbook would be worth more. Best part of the game Naming your ship but even this is disappointing why??? Because anyone can have the Name of your Ship instead of it being unique. Ok the best part of this update is saving your ship setup. Yup very Happy Best part. Selling items to a faction with easy sell point cool they could have had a separate emissary section. The Voyage bundles will see but I'm think this means there is no longer a reason to speak to the Pirate Lord so going down the Pirate Hideout not needed anymore.

Resources ok cool I can buy more resources in a world ok ungodly amount of resource why not add an easier way to restock ships. Happy but blah I mean if there is less resources in the world this make sense.

Adding trinkets cool here is an Idea instead of painting on the wall you can upload a screen shot from in game that would be amazing.

All and All a Solid 5 can we put better thought into it I mean your right there to make amazing update all the tools are there lingering around what we really want to fall just short of expectations.

  • Imagine if you will your logbook keeps not just records of sinks but log of every ship Name you have sunk or at least last 100 ships. That would be cool that way when you sink a well-known ship you go dang that's such and such ship. Just makes you a little more protective of your ship.

  • Keeps no records of pirate kills or other ships sunk.

So..your upside of the pvp part?

The biggest disappointment does not track record past the play session

It still does, Just not for your Captain Ship. Which is just a new way of saying, "New Player"

Best part of the game Naming your ship but even this is disappointing why??? Because anyone can have the Name of your Ship instead of it being unique

Then come up with a Unique name....Ive already came across 6 ships named after Movie ships or history ships.

  • @burnbacon

Yes Ship sinks and known Pirate kills where definitely in ship logs only makes sense.

Yes there will be ungodly amount of the same Ship Names after known ships. Here is the kicker you will be charged to Change your Ship Name real Money for a Ship Name that anyone can have your ok with this? Making Ships Unique makes sense do you work for Rare? I feel as if your a spin Doctor who works for them lol. Give me one reason why allow anyone to have same Name Ship what is the positive of this at all?

Record Book tracking can be improved to track History verse just one play session just saying it make sense.

Ships sunk wasn't even counted in Arena. Probably because water sinks ships :). Would it count if you just fired one cannon ball while the opponent is about to sink from a Kraken or being bombarded with cannonballs from a skelly fleet ?
Or if you fire one ball and half an hour later it sinks because of it docked too close to an island ?

Player kills probably aren't counted so players won't be (more) inclined to spawn camp a new or fresh player at an outpost who doesn't know about scuttle yet. Or anywhere else at the Seas for that matter.

Hate to bust your bubble here please take a look at My Pirate, under reputation. There you will see ship sunk it's already being recorded. This is just adding it to the ship Log. Look Name of the Game Sea of Thieves stop think this game is ether PvP or PVE. It's PVP with PVE because around every corner there could be a treat. This is just adding to a Pirate Game they kept Logs of ships sunk, location, and everything. I love the game stop trying to be upset over a game titled Sea of Thieves maybe wouldn't have lost the Arena. Better yet may I suggest you talk to Rare to make a game called Sea of Friends only PVE. Maybe they can make separate game just like Sea of Thieves just your ship can't sink you never die just go around gathering loot. Problem solved. They could do this by locking down a server so just you can sail be left alone. For us who embrace Pirate's life can we please do things that make sense in a Pirate Game Called Sea Of THIEVES.

The chances of spawning into an outpost waiting to be camped is low. You only spawn on outpost/Island of unoccupied ship locations. Meaning yes someone in a rowboat could be there. They would have to be Mad to want to do that. It would go against the Pirate Code as well. If you are not actively using the ship, grabbing resources, stealing loot, or navigating to a location your wrong. Spawn Camping just to spawn camp is wrong. Players do have the option to scuttle. keep an active log would show time how many times it would be more evidence witch Rare said they need when submitting a ticket.

Can't find it ... get the Bilge Rats, Reapers, Gold Hoarder &c nothing under there is ship I sunk. One of the milestones is the ships I'm on ?
If you're talking about the yearly numbers ... yeah, those numbers are not very trustworthy or accurate, I am for years on 21 million something sailed.

You want it for PvP counter, but you didn't really answer about two examples I've put forward that are not really PvP sinks (as 95% of the work has been done by AI). Another example, what about me boarding a ship that's been bombarded by another crew. I kill the crew member who is repairing, or I bring over a bucket full of water that sinks it. Do I get a ship sunk, does the other crew ?

Ehm ? Where do I express a desire to make SoT a PvE game ?
I'd advice you to take it down a notch.

Someone could be taking an ingame day or even longer to get supplies. I also mentioned "Or anywhere else at the Seas for that matter."
"Spawn camping just to span camp is wrong", you said and I agree. But with adding a Pirate Kill Count, it isn't spawn camping for only spawn camping anymore: it would become to get a trinket for completing a milestone ...

  • @lem0n-curry

You should be upset over the fact they have yet to fix the black screen loading times still. Added in a 15sec spawn time witch you must board a ship to sink them now and kill them. Sole sloop has a very low chances to sink a good crew. Can be done very difficulted.

Look the last ship to make contact to a player ship gets the sink it's not perfect math I get it. But the way I look at it the final blow get the count.

  • @lem0n-curry

Here is a more Solid of an Idea the Pirate LOGBOOK when submitted it is counted. This number is not capped already in game but capped uncap it. Allow a Leger to keep track of ship's you have sunk. That way the same Ship cannot be farmed for logbooks. Logbooks of same ships are cut in Half for value and don't count towards your count during a same play session. That would deter griefing to same ships and Farming.

That's one way and my guess is there will be people who might want a different way to give the PvP sink and it may not be easy to determine.
What if they scuttle just before you hit ? .
E.g. it doesn't sound right if I mega keg a galleon and you hit the capstan, you would get the sink :).

  • @lt-robinson25 name your ship The Swiss Cheese lol
