New Weapon-Crowbar/Prybar

  • Takes up one weapon slot. Does less damage then a sword and is slower at swinging, but has more knock back. Its main function is to undo repairs on a ship when boarding. This opens up more combat strategies as a boarder, you're less effective in direct combat, but more useful in sinking ships. Its not an instant undo however, it would scale with the time it took to fix the hole to begin with. Any thoughts?

  • Being more effective in combat while boarding IS being more effective at sinking. Undoing repairs on a ship is basically what you do when you shoot your cannons. I do not think the “crowbar/prybar” weapon would be used a lot. It would make you too squishy with only one real weapon and if you die often you risk sinking more than sinking others.

However, i do appreciate your enthusiasm to make the game a better game. I just think right now in terms of weapons they should fix what we have before thinking about making new types. Unless it’s just a skin like, for example, a crowbar skin that would act like a sword.

  • Cannon balls, unchecked fires and burning banana sink ships. There's also a heavy meta for boarding. So let's not make the problem worse.

  • Essentially a reskin of the common Boarding Axe suggestion- I'm not against it, but- y'know, prefer an axe.

  • main function is to undo repairs on a ship when boarding.

But who would want to stop fighting to stand where a patch is, to undo it? Unless the time it takes to remove is also the same as it takes to patch it. I wouldnt mind, but still...

  • The crowbar is a replacement of a sword with an advantage.

  • @statsss101 Why put yourself in danger while boarding sn enemy ship to make holes when you can just safely sit back on your ship, put holes in their ship with cannons, while also killing them, and disabling various parts of their ship?

  • My buddy talks about this idea often, I can see the benifits for a solo boarder but I also see how it can be abused; Like a running reaper gally sending out 4 boards at a time, each with a crowbar.

  • @statsss101 Instead of a new way to destroy a ship, what about a new way to repair the ship?

When a ship spawns its given the original 15 planks but 20 wood wedges as well, these wedges can't repair the mast, helm or anchor but repair the Hull in half the time.

  • I think it would be a cool extra tool in the arsenal that’s for sure.
Some adjustments would need to be made of course. Like persistent damage even after sinking.
Otherwise scuttling would be a smart meta to have a plankless ship again.
    But that’s solvable too.

Maybe one day we’ll get this.
