There should be a place to see all the gold you've ever gotten in the sea of thieves on the sea of thieves website.
total gold

Why? Need reason why.
Numbers get bigger! Reason!
Also like Fable 3 can we get a giant honkin gold pile like the goldhoa.... oh.. waitaminute...The moral of the story. Pfft. I guess.

Because this is a game where people spend hundreds and often times thousands of hours of their time.
What they care about, what drives them, what they enjoy, it's all theirs to have.
Qol isn't about justifying improvement in experience to those that are indifferent or apathetic about something specific. Qol is simply to serve those that invest in the experience. I don't think the question is "why?" I think it is "will?" will it serve people? I think the answer is undoubtedly yes.
Then we move on to harm to the environment, sacrifice for qol.
There is none with this so it serves and is harmless to others. That makes it valuable.

I disagree. I think people need to get away from things like high scores. All it does is give a person a sense of arrogance and influences them to brag about it (which in turn can only serve to make others feel worse about themselves). Sure, they may actually be good, and have earned it, but IMO it's not worth it if they lose sight of what's really important when gaming - having fun, and making memories. You don't need a high score for that.

Why not? No reason to not have it
Ever heard of this thing called "it'd be fun"?? Not every suggestion on this forum has to be an absolute breakthrough in technology, some things can be there just because. No need to be such a downer about everything...

This is your preference and a valid one for you. What others do is within their freedom of pursuit towards what they view important.
I don't view it as our business how another exercises information about their activity as long as it is within the rules, and attempts to block knowledge about their account is about control not betterment of community. People can already peacock now, mostly how they wish. This is information that has value for an individual about the individual's activity. It's their activity and in my opinion not ours to control or manipulate.
We do not control what is important to others. That is their journey and their freedom to figure out.
What is really important is what matters to them, decided by them.There are many many things already in the game, within site stats, and yearly stats that track things. Ledgers. The game is consistently about stats that are no more universally important than gold, they are simply activity data that serve the participant.
Most players aren't even involved in the social circles of SoT anyway.
@hedgedog1741 you could...
-make a new account
-start the game
-count together prices from already bought cosmetics
-add that number to your actual gold
-look into your commendation list, how many voyages you bought (each 200 gold)
-add that number
There you go...@galactic-geek sagte in total gold:

How does it negatively effect you or anyone else any more than what already exists? People that compete and flaunt stats already do so. Whatever a person chases in adventure to maintain drive and passion is no less valid than what drives you or me.
We all think we are right and we are all right when it comes to what matters to us. What matters to us is not universal and others are under no obligation to follow the same preference path we travel. There is nothing to shame or control over preferences that do not harm others and do not break the rules. Pirates get to value what they wish, freedom without interference by what others prefer.
@galactic-geek
Cool number is cool.If I want to see it, the discussion shouldn't be hindered by those who think they are the gatekeepers of someone else's so-called 'arrogance.' Whether or not players "lose sight of what's really important when gaming" is not your job. It's just a number amongst a sea of numbers. If people are being arrogant over numbers, they're already doing it with Distance Sailed and the like. So add one more number that will be cool to see for a lot of players. Nothing will change in player attitudes.
@Schwammlgott
Not only is your counting method tedious, it's also wrong.- Not every voyage is 200 gold
- Players like myself have maxed out voyage buying commendations
- Certain voyages from Larinna costed gold, there's no way to track how many of those you've bought.
- Some cosmetics were free for a time and then added to the shop, who's to know which ones you bought and which you didn't?
- There's nowhere to see how many crates you've bought
Adding the total gold earned to the overview page on the site is just the better option for everybody.

It wouldn't be the exact numbers, sure. But almost...
Also, this wasn't really seriousIt wouldn't be the exact numbers, sure. But almost...
Why spend hours and hours finding out how much everything I have costs just so I can get a number hundreds of thousands off? A number from Rare would be easy for everybody.
Also, this wasn't really serious
It's not like I can tell by text your sarcastic tone... Your post was still talking about the topic as if it had no merit, as if figuring out your total gold number is something easy.

If you take such a, in my opinion, ridiculous count seriously...go on...😜

@schwammlgott the amount of time that would take to do would be awfully painful.
I think so, yes...
