Change vs the same thing

  • The reason why people should side with the reapers is because siding with them permanently changes the world where siding with golden sands just reverts it back to how it has been for the last few years (there will probably be slight differences in how it looks, but nothing compared to what will happen if the reapers win). Do you want to see the world stay the same or do you want to see the world change and evolve is the question you should really be asking when picking a side. A common argument is that Golden Sands is the best outpost, but Sanctuary is essentially the same. Many players want to have another outpost, but why have 1 more outpost when we could get to see what is done with it if reapers win and get something entirely new and interesting instead of old and boring?

Edit - For those who say that Golden Sands is just going to stay in ruin permanently, we are already seeing changes there depending on if the Reapers are winning where a phantoms appear and watch you. Also, you have to think about the residents of Golden Sands, they will need a home and will possibly make a new outpost (just speculation of a new outpost, no hard evidence) or something else will happen to them which will be interesting to see and find out.

  • I read this in the voice of 90's era Pacino and Paint it Black started playing in the background.

  • Honey, I just wanted the spawn point and sell point back

You'll get a new spot if we destroy golden sands.

  • Golden Sands is perfectly positioned in the south side of Shores of Gold and as such is the best spawn point for everything involving the islands, the vaults and the fort in that area. This strategic position and the fact that merchant routes revolve around Golden Sands makes it a valuable asset for everyone.

The alternative is dominion through persecution of a dead dictator, still haunting these waters through his puppet servant and son. First they kidnapped the inhabitants of Golden Sands, after that they destroyed everything in fire and caused this miasmatic curse over the island. They promise change, yet at what cost this change comes?! Destruction, war, disease and fire that threatens to turn our beloved SOT in a desert for barbarians and wild beasts.

To us who stand with Merrick, Golden Sands represents our way of life, our SOT; to the reapers is just another place to destroy and turn into barren land, like the hideous hideout they come from.

This is why we should protect Golden Sands at all costs!

Proof? Who said that Golden Sands gets hit with an Undo? There are cannons on the island now, and Merrick said he would stay and maybe even run for mayor of Golden Sands. That's actual change! But, if the Reapers win, Golden Sands stays like it has been. Which is the antithesis of change...

If your looking for change, you should save Golden Sands. Because there is no Reaper content being added to Golden Sands of the Reapers win.

  • @jojo-buddy-v2

No, if Reaper's win the Adventure text says that Golden Sands stays as is. While technically a permanent change, it's also a useless one. Destroyed Golden Sands as it is now serves no purpose.

Now, I'm sure the devs have plans for Golden Sands, but I doubt those plans have anything to do with who wins the Adventure. Probably all we'll decide is what Golden Sands will look like until their actual plans are ready to go.

  • @metal-ravage your pic between dead dictators. Merrick is serving the Pirate Lord and he's dead. And the servant of the flame serves Flameheart amd he's dead.. .

  • @captain-coel Different from Flameheart and his greedy son Jr, Ramsey doesn't dictates how outposts operate. All the companies are represented in each outpost including taverns and shopkeepers. While every outpost is a pirate democracy, the Reaper's hideout is a greedy, dictatorship regime.

  • @metal-ravage have you read Athena Fortune? The Pirate lord wants all pirates to serve him.

  • @captain-coel Actually (according to the book) Ramsey wanted a pirate alliance and got betrayed in the process.

Flameheart is just a petty megaloman that now has to witness in silence how the reapers' numbers are "dwindling"

  • If you're saying change is good, we should change to having a 6th outpost again instead of remaining at only having 5. Sounds good to me.

  • @metal-ravage an alliance with him in charge. Sorry still.makes him a tyrant in my book.

  • We are with you Merrick!

    Don't worry, we're never gonna give up on you; never gonna let you down;
never gonna swap sides and desert you.

  • why people should side with the reapers is because siding with them permanently changes the world

Frankly, we dont know the 100% outcome of the outpost. Will it be removed, turned into a haunted island, reaper outpost, island like K9 (not marked on the map) we dont know.

  • @captain-coel When people decide to ally under one chosen leader that is called democracy.

Exactly, we don't truly know which makes it more interesting

  • @grumpyw01f I am glad you chose to leave out the part where I said there would be slight differences at the outpost :)

  • @metal-ravage he didn't want to give them a choice. he wants them to ally under him. Those of us that choose freedom reject the pirate lord just the same.

  • @captain-coel This must be the reason why the reapers wear the same masks, kidnap people and burn their habitations. Flameheart's propaganda is nothing but the cult of a dead dictator.

  • @jojo-buddy-v2
Which doesn't change that Merrick being on a different island is a large change. Or that nothing is happening to the island if the reapers win.

  • This is just another 1 of Rare's so-called Mysteries - what will happen to GSO? Nobody knows! 😁

Oh, how quickly poor DeMarco was cast aside and forgotten... 😔

DeMarco is still waiting for his respawn. Man's having the longest blackscreen in the history of Sea of Thieves 🙉

  • Merrick has never done me wrong. He gave me this Drum and Speaking Horn, and taught me a jaunty tune. I owe him one, and I settle my debts.

  • @longbeardfellow
I've been a Reaper since Ships of Fortune, but I got Merrick's tattoo first. My allegiance will be with him always.

Sadly there's not going to be anything new. The only 2 outcomes are that it will either stay ruined or it will become functional again.

Players can pick the path they wish to follow, either choosing to aid in the Outpost’s reconstruction or dooming it to be ever shrouded in ethereal mist. Do you want the Outpost restored to its previous prominence, or would you rather leave it in ruins as a tactical play or a testament to Captain Flameheart’s power?

    Here is my source.

Your debt was settled when you killed the megalodon that he failed to kill. He is more in your debt than you in his because you saved him again in the previous adventure.

As for items he has given you, he gave a drum, tattoo, speaking trumpet, fishing rod, mug, full ship set, figure head, and now sails. The Reapers have given (I am counting DA has half sense it's reapers Athena mix and reapers heart emporium items) 2.5 ship sets, 2.5 weapon sets, 0.5 Equipment, a costume, 4 pets, 0.5 of a clothing set, and now a lantern. You could also argue that Flamheart is directly responsible for us having the ashen dragon set, ashen curse, 4 tattoos, and 3 sails if I am not forgetting anything. He is also indirectly responsible for a lot of other things like the bone crusher ship set.

This whole sentence is just wrong...same as sanctuary? Are you kidding? Not at all, if anything it's similar to dagger tooth outpost...
Tavern is too far away...the only good thing about that outpost is imo, that there is a 360 degrees free vision to look around...that's it

It has been said somewhere, that we get a place for the NPC's...just can't find it anymore

And what do you base this claim on? Why can't rebuilding Golden Sands to something better be an option? Why do you claim it would reverse it back while destroying it would give us something new? What do you base that on? It would be fatal to assume we get something new, go all in on destroying it and then we get.. nothing. Because it was just a wild assumption.

And that's not how game developing works. There is much ressources and much money involved into planning, developing and creating new content for a game. Rare won't spend all those ressources and then just put it all in the hands of the players, and depending on how that turns out, all these ressources would be wasted. If Rare has plans to give us new content, then we get new content, independently of the outcome of a player-driven event. Same for the other option, if Rare has no plans to add something new, we won't get anything new.

It's just not how game developing works. Stop telling people that it's a given that we get something new when destroying Golden Sands and that we won't get something if we rebuild it. That is nonsense and based on nothing but a unrealistic dream.

    Golden Sands must stay.
