Cloud Gaming

  • Just a quick question about cloud gaming.

I have heard players with older Xbox’s talking about the benefits of the load times on cloud gaming. An excellent option for them it seems.

Is there any benefit of cloud gaming for someone that uses a series X other than the obvious download/updating/ storage space benefits?

Sorry if I missed this conversation on the first time round.

    Thanks

  • Hi. I use a series X with a modest connection, and I'm pretty fine with loading times and smoothness. My wife sometimes uses cloud gaming. It's excellent with the loading times, but with our connection is pretty laggy and clunky. It's extremely useful to have quick and chilly sessions when you are far from your main device btw. If you have a good connection, you can try to see how it goes.

  • I have a great connection and a series X. Just wondering if it’s worth it considering my loads are good anyway

  • @pabio-escobar xcloud is basically playing on a Series X in a data centre somewhere. So yes, people playing on older machines will get better graphics and faster load times.

However, because you're playing on a machine many miles from you, there will always be at least some lag between you pressing a button on the controller and that action happening on screen. The slower your Internet, the worse it'll be, but it'll likely occur even with a decent/fast connection (I have a good connection and it's a noticeable difference between playing on my console compared to xcloud).

All in all I'd say you're not missing anything on xcloud. It's just a nice convenience if you want to play a game but not have to download it first (the way I see it at least).
