Prestige Option

I both love and hate your suggestion. I shall updoot. 😌 I like the idea of being able to see all my doors filling up again, but all too soon the quick doors will stop showing up and you're still grinding. If commendations are mixed into the option to prestige you could be worthlessly grinding some of them...

What if it were based off your Trading Co. 100% instead. Including Reaper and Athena?

When someone mentions prestige (which is a pretty cool concept in general I have to admit...) I only want to see it if it's attached to either the 3 original factions being maxxed or maybe all 5.

@pithyrumble I still feel like commendations are the "prestige" in SoT. If they continue to add more cosmetics to the grinder ones it may even feel rewarding. Back to grinding veils and looking for sharks...

So having one means you can't have the other...? You don't HAVE to do prestige if it was added, and a lot of commendations are either so grindy and way over-the-top that it isn't fun, and limits what you WANT to do, compared to what you NEED to do for the commendation. Adding prestige to allow you to progress the factions again without losing everything to your name would be a great way to satisfy the players who want to see their reputation go up or show off how many times they've prestige ranked.

There's also that option, but seeing that OP specified prestige instead of removed level cap, I thought it would be good to stay on topic with that.

@pithyrumble Ok so I was thinking. What if the prestige was only for gold, order, merchant, athena, and reapers? That way you can keep the stuff you’ve purchased with real money. (I mean like if you prestige you can’t loose certain cosmetics and stuff that you’ve purchased with ancient coins and stuff, I love my Sails Of Union haha) So you’d still loose like everything you unlock by xp rank ups (titles, cosmetics all that) but only for those 5 factions. And then yeah you’d loose the commendations for those things but you’d need to grind them like usual. I mean the idea isn’t perfect but I’m getting close to finishing and my original plan was to just keep my same pirate and help out new players but I feel like, I play solo most of the time and when I do play online I don’t find that most people are new anymore. Atleast the ones I get matched with. So it would be cool to have an option to just regrind with the goal to get everything back and maybe a title or something special. @metal-ravage I think I mean it for mostly the 5 main factions. Only because the seasons and adventures change every so often but the factions and the fact that you have to get to a certain level for those to complete them is where it would be useful. Plus to be honest I don’t really care for the season things. I don’t pay for the Plunder Pass and the rewards they give for the regular pass are so so. Plus (and this is just me, I know this doesn’t go for everyone) but my pirate has had the same clothing on and my boat is always equipped the same every time I’ve played for the last three years haha. I don’t really like most of the cosmetics or anything so my stuff is always the same. The seasons only give you cosmetic stuff and I guess coins and stuff but I have nothing to spend coins on since I own every cosmetic in the game haha. I just mean for the 5 regular factions maybe being able to prestige them and once you’ve gotten to Legend again you’ll get a cool title or something that says you’ve prestiged. Obviously someone smarter then me can do the tinkering with the idea

A prestige system that is as simple as resetting your faction ranks and getting a title every time you do it seems pretty uninspired.

What I'd much prefer is an enhancement to the Emissary Ledger System and rewards. The current system is way too easy for the dedicated players. On top of that, it's only really updated ~4x per year. The other 8 months are empty.

If you're caught up on Emissary Ledgers, there should be a more competitive and challenging option to earn rewards between the Ledger updates.
