Do we know the purpose of Lesedi's spyglass yet?
The Mystery Begins!
Just to clear something up, because there are arguments on the Discord about this...
The arrows on the coins did not point us to the spyglass on Crooked Masts, the word "PRISONER" did... or may have. It was probably intended that we check all the "prisoners" on the map and eventually find it, however it was found before we even got that clue.
As for the arrows, we still don't really know what they signify yet.
Speculation
And another thing that's kind of bugging me but might be nothing... the backgrounds of each skull on Twitter seems to show the location of the next one. The background for the skull of William Davies, however, seems to be in the Sea of the Damned? Or maybe that's just the lighting.
More coins found on Sea Dog's Tavern, at the clothing shop. Originally spotted by

The coins appear to point SxSE and NxNW

I can't recall islands in the main world that have purple-ish trees (might be lighting though as you said). I don't have long but I can go run around the first POTC tall tale area real quick, just in case.
EDIT: nope first tall tale's trees are completely different. I'll check the third but I'm leaning toward the lighting being off.
EDIT 2: ooh the third one is actually promising. has similar looking trees in the bayou area.
I ran around the third POTC tall tale for a bit and didn't see anything out of place, but I think you're onto something. I can't continue looking right now but I'll likely be back later. Hopefully someone sees something I didn't :D
the fact that the messages and everything wasn't real makes a LOT of sense
I mean, we never knew WHO wrote the messages did we?
And OF COURSE someone would try to frame the pirate lord, he's the pirate lord!
And doesn't it seem pretty convenient that the lantern we needed was sitting near by in a chest?
It makes sense...
TOO much sense....@realwebber69
Not only that but lots of the clues you guys have been finding we couldn't figure out an answer for. The dice that were played with with DeMarco and the one shop keeper, the parchment with the speaking trumpet with those roman numerals, all those we couldn't figure out what all those really meant! Are we supposed to wait for something to happen when she changes the skulls? There something out there now we can find and look through with this new spy glass? Maybe something may happen tomorrow after the update!
Since there is a map of paths I would suggest folks look around intersecting path location be they on islands or in the waters near for clues that relate to prisoners, this will start to tie things together due to the clue that all the coins spell out Prisoner.
That map is tad out of date... it doesn't have the arrows from Thieves' Haven or Sea Dogs Tavern
My current prediction is that the arrows on the coins don't relate to the map, and that we'll use them to decode something we dig up - which we find using the spyglass. I think the arrows matter in relation to the letters rather than compass directions. Just a theory though. We still need to find whatever it is Lesedi wants us to find.
Sort of made a discovery yesterday, but didn't have the time to further investigate. standing on Scurvy Isle (North of Sea Dog's tavern where and arrow points) if you look at Old Faithful Isle from Scurvy the right eye kind of lines up with a right poking out cliff. This might just be me reading too far into things, but figured I would share this.

Every little details helps good catch I will need to check this out next I can.
Went to see if there was anything as @octoyosh1 mentioned and I couldn't find anything. I think I used the spy glass the way he looked at it, but the X was in the water, and I couldn't find much of anything but some sharks. :(
@capt-brookes That's unfortunate thanks for everyone who looked there though. Went out on a limb and I can see it didn't exactly help.
@deyonks35 um Im not sure if anyone has seen this... or posted it yet? But I found this in the Spyglass
Can only be seen in certain lighting.
@lululinn Im not sure if the shape of the eye(s) means anything. Tho I do think we could poke around discovery ridge and see
Just an idea:
I've been reading up on the new clues and it seems like the only set of coins that have yet to mean anything are the two by the traders at the SeaDogs tavern. One points NxNW and the other SxSE. These point to Hidden Spring Keep and FoTD respectively (as they are the closest islands along this path). Lone Cove and Crooks Hollow also lie on these headings from the coins. Maybe one of these pairs have places to use the spyglass and find a pair of skulls???
I've been seeing alot of people saying it looks like Lone Cove. I agree with them but I'm not sure what we're supposed to do with the whole island if that's the case.

I Have found the only way to recreate this is to go under cover and then point directly towards the sun
Okay. We did a bit of looking around tonight and here's what we ended up finding.
-
Thieves Haven: In the center, behind the ship with the ladder you crawl up to the top. Is a siren mural on the wall. There's where the "O" of Seadogs coins was. Which pointed to the north. We checked the island just to the north but it didnt seem to contain anything. Likewise, the coins looked vaguely like the shape of K-9. But that didnt have anything that seemed related to the mystery either.
-
Crooks Hollow: We looked around here and found the big "R" of coins at the back of the biggest cave by the waterfall. It pointed back towards the spyglass. It also had a funny gold hoarder skull hanging from a stalactite. Not sure if that was around before this. But we did find it. It looks like one of the bounty skulls painted red with the Gold Hoarder Key on it.
-
We went to Lone Cove: Didn't really see anything else that seemed related like more coins (All the ones we found seemed to just point back towards the spyglass, either by spelling or direction) But in the hidden cavern beneath the island, we found another Gold Hoarder Skull inside of a torn up rowboat. Which was painted blue.
-
Devils Ridge: There is a Kraken Mural in the cave on this island. Which has eyes in the skull painting that vaguely resemble the eyes on the spyglass. This may be unrelated.
-
Wanderers Refuge: We tried back here since it related to the previous adventure of discovering who was the masked killer. Poked around in her cave. But didnt find anything new.
-
@larrychupacabra iirc that is one of the skulls found around the world map in relation to the golden bananas event which Herr Crew won.
@lululinn That effect is just a glitch with the lighting system. I'm pretty sure the trapmaker spyglass from the Tall Tale does the same thing.
The spyglass should be used to locate a dig spot somewhere in the world. The problem is that we don't know what we are supposed to focus the eye on. Also not sure whether the greyed out nose and other eye are supposed to focus on something else, which would ensure we get the correct angle.

Well for a glitch, it sure does look like thieves haven.....
@th3xr34p3r Ohhhhhh. That would make sense. It didnt seem to fit the theme of this adventure. It just happened to be in the area we were already searching, and I hadnt noticed any of the previous times Id been in those areas.
and I do agree that, while the artifacting of the Spyglass does just look like janky jpeg artifacting. It also does look an awful lot like Thieves haven. So could be a fluke. But it was fun to check anyway. Cus I hadn't seen the coins on that island before.
Im also wondering if maybe this relates to the upcoming teaser for the next adventure. Where we are going underwater. Maybe to a mermaid shrine?
