Character creation of character selection redo

  • I'm sure we have all spent hours trying to find the right pirate, and as fun as it is, it's time consuming and hard for those who are especially picky.

I'm one of those people where if a detail isn't right about something it bugs me until I can't take it anymore, so I've spent many hours and many monies (good for the company ig!) Only to spend it on character change potions. Over and over again.

Now I'm saying over and over again because in the selection there is no option to zoom in and look at your pirate, which would be the most basic thing the devs could do. So often times I pick a character and then log into the game only to pick out something I don't like that I wasn't able to see. Another thing is the poses for the pirates. As fitting as they are for the game, they often leave me confused on how the facial structure sits at times. It would be nice to have them either move from pose to neutral position or just stay in one position where you can see the whole face. But mainly it would just be nice to zoom in and see their features before choosing.

And of course the mention of character creator! I don't know if the devs have something like this planned but it would be nice to create a character. Personally that's one of my favorite things about certain games, I love creating! I love being able to show people that /I made this!/

That's pretty much it, I love the game, but the character selection is bazongas and I know a lot of other people feel this way too.

  • @schwammlgott ty!

  • @stimkies now to the thread...zooming in, yeah would be nice
A filter for gender, would be a good addition, but only that one
The IPG (Infinite Pirate Generator) is made like this on purpose, we shouldn't create our perfect character, it has to look like this and this won't change, you don’t see it most of the time anyway
Also if you let people create theyr own character, you will see really weird creations that would kill immersion

  • @schwammlgott I can definitely agree with this, but at the same time I think there should be some changes to make it easier, maybe even a thing where you can favorite a pirate and it can generate certain features at random of the pirate you favorited (ie. Face structure, body structure) along with choosing a gender. I think that would be great!

Easier than it already is? 🤔🤨
That favourice-system you suggest is nothing else but a filter system, just more laborious...

  • @schwammlgott it might be easy for some but I'm on hour 9 of looking for a character 😭 I'm sorry I'm picky 😂

Idk though, I just think maybe a filter system would be nice, yeah, at least for people like me. Would I want them to get rid of the randomization as a whole? Absolutely not! It could be something you could check on and off for favoriting.

When I first picked my character (still the first one, for about 2 years we didn't have the pirate appearance potion), it took me about 30-40 minutes...only 2 things I wanted was, a body type a bit like me (ok, my character got more muscles 😅) and a red-brownish hair colour like me (there was no hair dye option in the beginning) there were 2-3 things I did want a change, but I got stuck with my character over time and now I never would change it, this is me! Perfectly imperfect 😅
