Let emissaries claim sea forts!

  • A player made and driven skull fort ideally.

Players raise an emissary, clear a fort and take it under their control.

The flag of their emissary company raises up and now the crew gets a set of keys for the doors and all the Phantoms become friendly to that emissary company. I like to image that all the Phantoms walking in the fort will look at the players owning the fort and salute them

With a fort in their control they can store loot in these forts and gain emissary reputation for how much they can store.

These forts also get more phantoms guarding them depending on how much loot is stored on them.

All forts that are claimed will have a
emissary LVL system like ships do to show how much loot and how strong the phantoms there are.

  • Would be a fun idea but I already imagine it somehow being ruined by server alliances.

If you removed the emissary ledger it would just be more fun content.

  • I would say that once a Sea Fort is claimed, players could raise an Emissary flag on the fort, this would be shown on the Map similar to the Reapers Flag.

It would have Ranks, that are also visible on the Map. This rank would go up based on the number of ships that are sunk in the surrounding Squares, or the number of other players killed on the fort itself.

If your ship is in proximity to the fort you can lower the flag, which would transfer it to your boat... it would no longer be able to go up in Rank (till you raise it on a fort again) but it would now mark your ship on the map.

Another crew could also lower it, but it would take 15-60 seconds of "using" it, and it would then turn into a broken emissary flag that could be turned into any Trading Company.

Once it gets to Rank 5, it acts like a Reaper's Mark Emissary, only it is a multiplier for ALL the trading companies (You won't be able to claim the Emissary Voyage) for all the loot you turn it. Lowering it would be "using" the flag on the back of the ship for 15-60 seconds, and you can turn it in yourself if lowered this way.

NOTE: I think it would be interesting if there was a mechanic in the game to steal emissary flags like the map bundle... only it would require 1-2min of Using the flag on the back of the ship to do it.

  • The idea seems good. Maybe down the line once we solve and clear out the phantoms but….

the Phantoms become friendly to that emissary company.

No thanks. It has to be guarded by players themselves.

But of course who would want to capture/defend a fort for who knows how long?

  • I think that you could say that when you claim the fort that entire region receives an emissary boost for th flag you raised. What this means is that you can raise another flag on your ship and boost you rep gains again. You could claim the second region fort and eventually have a 7.5x handin bonus (assuming you have defended the original fort). How you could multitask I don't know. But I suppose you could leave someone in the fort to defend...?

And also, don't just tell me it will be 'ruined' by Alliance Servers. They really are harmless and have absolutely no effect on another servers gameplay. If it's that bad, just block emissary ledge gains while in an alliance.

  • @burnbacon well if it's not like that then you have the problem where you sit at a fort and wait for people to come. Chances are you will have many servers where people don't want to PvP fight for a fort or the wait time for someone to come is so long.

The point of having friendly phantoms is so the crew can leave and get more loot or do other things as you wait.

If it's to boring to wait then no one will want to do this
