Option to hide cannon flares

    Can we have the option to hide the cannon flares? When activated the canons would just show the standard smoke effect.

    Other crews would still see your cannon flares and anyone on your crew who had not opted to switch them off would also see them.

    Sounds a bit pointless to me, the flares are there for your own liking more than anyone elses... but hey, QoL update is a QoL update, I won't complain

    @phantaxus so you want to equip a cosmetic and toggle it off so you can't see it? 🤦
    What does this have to do with QoL?

    Agreed, I hate it when my crew puts on the flash bang cannon flares (personally still confused who had that idea at Rare, fireworks were a way better version of this). From a concept standpoint it’s a cool addition but gameplay wise has a negative impact.

    Often, I join crews already at sea, only to find there barrels are exactly as they were when the ship was spawned (neither stocked, nor rationalized); or who insist on using the anchor at every opportunity.

    I usually just leave.

    Not opposed to making it so that you can set it so that on your end you will only see the default cannon flares. (Not flareless that would be broken).

    Though not sure how easy that implementation would be that might be actually really complicated to put in...

    This would be great, especially for ones like golden sailor, where you want to show them off, but it limits your vision in combat. So other crews can see them, maybe you can see them while not on cannon, then when you go on it, it becomes default.

    This would change the meta to where you pick the most obnoxious flares for your enemy but keep yourself toggled off.

    Nope, you pick your flair you use it for better or for worse. If you join a crew that runs obnoxious flares ask to have them changed, change it yourself at outpost, or go on a different ship.

    I don't think resources should go to this at all.
