PING AND FPS DISPLAY FOR XBOX

  • Rare please consider this request. PC has an option for the HUD to show PING and FPS so we think it would be favorable to have this option for the Xbox Community. I know this is possible because other games that do this easily such as Call of Duty and Rocket League, so if they can do it you can do it better. We're just asking for a feature that would make our adventures easier. Thank you Rare :)

EDIT: By "easier" I mean more maintained.

I’m out of the loop. How would this make it easier for me (Xbox user)? What benefit does the else two offer?

  • Where possible, there should be parity between the PC and console versions. On principle, I have zero objections to this.

I have Rocket League on Xbox, and I don't recall there being a show FPS option. Ping, yes; FPS, no (in RL).

  • @og-chaos5508 I'd understand ping, but fps? XBoxOne is 30fps, SeriesX either 60fps or 120fps...sounds like a waste showing that...
Anyway, the same question @BurnBacon asked...HOW does it make it easier?

  • @schwammlgott @burnbacon

FPS is a pointless addition as they are (supposed to be) static on Xbox... although I always wonder how much it dips below that number on my Series X at 120fps.

But ping could be helpful, especially when subjecting yourself to open crew.

There were times when I would open crew for fun and I'd load in and the game would feel...weird. Like every input needed to be extra deliberate. On those occasions I would ask my crewmates where they're from and I would get all sorts of regions not anywhere close to mine. I'm in NA East... I've found myself on Central, West, and even UK servers before somehow.

But even on what I can only assume are local servers... sometimes it just feels again...off...like every input isn't quite as smooth as normal. Usually if that's the case I'll hop to another server and it fixes it...but if I could look up KNOW that I've got high ping, I could hop to another server, check again, and know that maybe it's time for the ol' router reset if I keep getting high ping.

Point is, it'd be nice to be able to visually get confirmation on why a server feels weird sometimes and can help with troubleshooting toward a solution.

  • @burnbacon Please pardon me for the lack of clarification, by "adventures easier" I meant it more of the "overall experience better" because sometimes it's nice to know when your frames or connections drop, me and my friends like to keep track of those on Xbox. The display is just a little feature to help us stay organized and understand our gameplay mechanics on screen, which is what I'm requesting. Again, my apologies.

  • @galactic-geek Yes, you are correct. My apologies; I should have gone into more detail, but I think you get where I was carrying this. Thank you for the correction.

  • @schwammlgott Thank you for the question; let me clarify myself. However, the consoles are set to go around several frames (ex 30 fps). They still do drop, and by "easier" (again, please pardon my lack of clarification), it would help us track the fps and ping (if they were to drop), making it easier to manage performance. Again, thank you for the question and opportunity to clarify the suggestion. Happy sailing!

  • @sweetsandman Thank you, again, the fps isn't my primary target, but it's just a bonus. Ping is something I always like to keep track of, especially with the rise of server issues. Again thank you! Happy sailing!

The frames are supposed to be there but they will not always be at a solid 60 or 120. It’s just a toggle to see how your frames and ping are being affected in different scenarios. If you have a lot of loot in one spot for example, on a PC you can walked towards it and if it’s a very big haul, you can see the ping and fps counter drop down meaning you shouldn’t be near it much.

  • Ping counter would be a nice addition. If i'm in a server with an high ping, I can always try to join a new one, hoping for better ping.

  • I'd like to see a packet loss indicator.

Ahoy! That would be something nice!

  • Ping would be quite useful on Xbox, FPS is more useful for PC's to see how much improvement you are getting from hardware upgrades or driver updates.

  • Shouldn’t not be any reason for their not to be the option for ping and FPS. Probably just be really small, though

  • Hopefully rare will add "show ping" option

  • @scurvywoof Ahoy! Most likely would be small on screen. Happy sailing!

  • I hope it does. Even though I'm not on Xbox it should be fair

  • Sounds pointless

  • Confused on the naysayers on this. Knowing your ping and FPS are great tools for trouble-shooting as well as knowing if you are having problems on your end. I get it, an Xbox isn't really something that should need trouble-shooting. That being said, if some dude is teleporting around me, I can at least glance in my corner to see if maybe he isn't teleporting, I'm just lagging. Its just nice to know if your ping is spiking, rather than just raging at the machine or person seemingly teleporting.

  • Id have to agree i experience alot of lag on open servers a console servers with no way of actully been able to see my ping an fps is at it would be a nice little addition. To have that little window showing .
