Fort vault and despawn times of loot

    I have sunk a brig doing a skull fort and they have not hurried the key as there was no map bundle,, Ithey have returned and been sunk an additional 3 times since, I cannot find the vault key anywhere on the island, I have checked everywhere multiple times and loot is still in vault. My question is will the loot eventually despawn out of the vault? I'm beginning to think the key is glitches in a wall somewhere as I cannot find it

    I think loot spawned on the floor takes about 3 hours to despawn. Loot sank in water is about 15 minutes. I don't think you can bury keys and they can't be sold either. They'v either hidden it in a place where it clips into something or it's been thrown into the sea.
