South-African servers.

  • The players in south africa struggle to with high latancy personally i struggle to get below 400ms 300ms on a good day. But the problem is this makes pvp impossible and causes alot of issues. Like rubber banding ships floating of into the sky teleporting ships teleporting players off of ships just to name a few problems i personally encountered.
We would like a fair chance in pvp aswell as being able to just enjoy the game more in general. But with such high ping we stuggle to simply walk around our ship and not teleport into the ocean. I personally love the game but the main reason me and my friends would stop playing is when we go into a streak of constant disconnects. We love the game you made and it would be amazing if we had a even playing field with the rest of the SOT community.

  • Was solo slooping couple of nights ago, visiting a shipwreck. Saw grade 3 reaper approach, got back to my ship, grabbed chains and cballs, hit a couple of shots lower deck before I sent the chain that landed, rush to sails to raise and prep for my spiral around them, lag kicked in and yeeted me through the ship all they way down to Davy Jones' locker as I was halfway up the stairs towards the sails.
Merms don't spawn 600m beneath the waves. Had to swim all the way up.
    Hit esc.
    Click on exit to desktop.
Happens at least 2 to 3 times a session.
Also from South Africa, Rare has stated that SA servers was in the works this was a couple of years ago by now.
Have honestly given up at this point.

  • I don’t know if the server host Rare use for SoT have anything in South Africa. That’s probably why

  • @scurvywoof
As far as i know, we have had Azure servers for quite some time now.
Well our Azure servers were up and running when they released the statement that SoT servers are on the road map, almost 2 years ago...

Fair enough. There's likely a reason, probably not COVID, that they haven't said.
