if I'm not mistaken, we're playing sea of thieves, thieves not runners. when you represent a faction with an emissary, you gain reputation. do you find it normal to sell the flag when a boat attacks you? no. we shouldn't be able to sell the flag if a ship attacks us, it's anti-games.
stop emisary runner !
The problem, as others have pointed out, is that there's nothing to be gained by fighting when you have all the risk.
I like the idea someone had a while ago that we should be able to sell Reaper flags to the other factions. Especially for Athena, this makes sense, it puts the two opposing factions against each other more directly.
@fs-werlyars wait til you run up against a competent player that not only lowers their flag but also drive-by sells all their loot first while you watch helplessly.
The key in this game is to be sneaky or deceptive. Approach your victim without them noticing or pull off the entire heist without them being aware they were robbed. This is Sea of Thieves, not sea of brawling bumbling thugs.
I can agree on one of the emisary, reaper should fight, the other ones, i dont mind them running, i usially catch them anyway.
The thing with this game, never expect people to play it how you want them to play the game. Even if i have alot to lose, with or without a flag, i fight, if i lose i lose.
But i dont care how other people play the game, only thing i mind is reapers always running away, and atleast getting salty when they get sunk after running for hours, they marking themself on the map.@lackbarwastaken said in stop emisary runner !:
@fs-werlyars this one time I caught this dude stealing my bike, he was a good ways off but i yelled for him to stop. You know what he did? HE RAN! A thief running, can you imagine?
Not a good thief though - he should have taken your bike and use that to get away faster ;).
@lem0n-curry man should have turned around and started swinging that bike at me like a real thief that fights for his loot.

yeah that's not a smart idea
just like how robbers and thieves are supposed to get far away while causing a little commotion as possible - since people with better tools and means of damage could make their steal unsuccessful
Thieves in this game are supposed to be sneaky, because either their target will fight back extra hard, or will get their loot to someplace safe from your clutches
Stop chasing boats and actually learn how to be a thief, be sneaky instead of always being deadly upon sight. It's Sea of Thieves, not Sea of Fighters.
