Purely Hypothetical and unrealistic idea

  • Now I just want to say before one of you smart guys try to say "thats unrealistic" or "thatll never happen"... Yes. I know. Thats why I said it was purely hypothetical.

But anyway, I wonder how much irl money one would need to hypothetically pay in order to get a fully one of a kind and exclusive outfit set/costume made to be used in game. (within reasonable bounds of course like nothing stupid like a robot or something immersion breaking, just something simple and pirate themed that'd reasonably fit in game)

Cuz the way I think about it is, one would pay a fee (which im guessing would probably be pretty up there in price) to get a fully customized outfit/costume suited to them so that way the like super duper die hard fans for this game who would be willing to pay such an amount could get a fully tailored character to play with yk?

But obviously its just a pipe dream and would never realistically happen of course but it was just a neat lil idea I had while sketching up some in universe character art for an OC I was making.

  • I'd pay Joe and Mike personally a stupid amount of money just to prioritize figuring out how to remove costumes and break them all down into individual pieces and curses

  • @tre-oni same lol

  • I would love this but unfortunately my name is not Jeff Bezos...

  • about 3 fiddy

  • Rolls Royce make that sort of concept work, and it's anywhere from 30 to 80 times the price of a regular car, depending on what the buyer wants. I'm sure if you threw enough money at it, Rare would be open to a similar situation.

  • "I'm sorry, Mr. Hombre. But no matter how much money you offer us, we cannot let you pirate in the nude."

  • @hombre said in Purely Hypothetical and unrealistic idea:

"I'm sorry, Mr. Hombre. But no matter how much money you offer us, we cannot let you pirate in the nude."

I wonder what it would cost for the ability to quote you fully and accurately in a post

  • Just don't tell them you're naked
    🙈🙉🙊

  • @ghostymag
What I would give for a red, black and gold set with metal armor....

Thankfully this dream is covered by DA/GSD/Reaper. I hope we get a full, non-paid reaper set someday.

  • The game doesn't need this. It creates a barrier between the haves and havenots in-game, and preys on whales. For the die hard fans we have merchandise and other promotions to take advantage of and show off our love for the game.

We don't need to rub it in other players' faces in virtual spaces - the Ferryman set is already bad enough for creating that sort of FOMO, and the amount of cash folks are willing to part with for it, it's frankly depressing.

If you have money to spare, I recommend saving it for charity sails and to donate during occasional charity drives, such as the GameBlast event that took place last weekend.

  • If you somehow have the money to buy Rare then it is not necessarily a pipe dream.

  • @ghostymag your answer is basically "how much does it cost rare to make a clothing set"

wild uninformed estimations but a full clothing weapon and ship set might take.....200 hours of work idk maybe? perhaps like 70 bucks an hour considering life insurance wages etc. Thats 14k just to make it then it probably hurts their brand to make an exclusive one of a kind cosmetic that they are just selling to high rollers so they have to charge enough money to make it worth their while. 50k and they donate half to charity to kind of hide the fact that they are trying to make a buck.
