  • @devastator1121 nowhere near the art style of sot

    Fixed that for you.
Personally I find the art to be way too blocky. Not to mention having a machine gun ruins immersion.

If I'm not mistaken, Blazing Sails was made because there was no PvP-focused mode in SoT... and then it got one.

  • @grumpyw01f your a genius 😂 yea, I don't think blazing sails has better it definitely has different art. The characters in sea of thieves show much more emotion due to the eyes and faces being more animated, whereas blazing sails, the characters eyes are merely dots.
The eyes are the windows to the soul.

  • Not even close. But nice bait.

  • Opinion. And, very different art styles.

  • @grumpyw01f And then it (Arena) died....

Anyway, I wish Blazing Sails success. It'll hopefully drive the PvP only players away from SoT, and then we can get on with actual piracy.....

I do wish it sucess (i have the game, it's pretty fun), but your last sentence is pretty silly imo. Blazing sails PvP is more akin to Fortnight than SoT, and will not lure people who only PvP in SoT to switch. And while i often express great disapointment towards player who choose only to PvP or PvE, i respect their choice, and move on my merry PvPvE way.

Only thing I like about it is the Galleon conquest mode and the bomb vessel. It's a good game but has a weird concept.

It's like Fortnight And SoT's Arena had a baby, with a more simple art style.

  • @devastator1121

If I'm being honest, when I looked at the characters here, it reminds me of the low detail models from PC games I grew up with from the late 90's. It's been clear from the start that Blazing Sails has been very "inspired" by Sea of Thieves on a lot of fronts... so much so that the only thing that really feels different about the game is that it's Battle Royale. Lord knows we don't need yet another Battle Royale on the market.

Sorry, Blazing Sails is not a "better game" than Sea of Thieves, firstly because it is an entirely different kind of multiplayer environment and experience. Secondly because it does look like a bargain basement version of Sea of Thieves, visually speaking. Even the key art doesn't come close to what Sea of Thieves has.

  • Nice troll post. two very different games.

    SoT- Pirate adventure game
    Blazing sails- Pirate themed shooter.

I own both, I play both, both great games in there own way, hope they both succeed into the future.

  • @mrat13 drive...pvp...away
    actual piracy.....

what do you consider actual piracy?

  • 🤔What has happened here?

  • @lackbarwastaken Going for the most profit. That can either be PvP or PvE. A lot of PvPers just want a fight, and Arena/Blazing Sails fits that better.

  • @musicmee it appears our friend here has had a bit too much to drink!

  • @mrat13 regardless off the heat your taking over that post ik what you mean, the sweats and needs who spawn camp every noob not the actual papers.

Ooookaaayyy... See , i do understand that both games can have a "longing" effect. i mean , SOT or Blazing Sails , are pirate games and a good bottle of rum or grog isn't far away then , but ... Drinking too much at young age is far from advisable . Writing when you've been drinking way too much leads to ...uhm... overestimated comparisons ...Don't worry ,i'm here to save you , Blazing Sails may be a fun game to play but it simply doesn't has the Depth , the Graphics , the Style and not the commitment that Rare offers towards SOT...

So nothing else for me to say than to throw an icecold bucket of water over yer carcass so you wake up from the imaginary world that too much alcohol does serve you....hihihihihi

  • This Sea already monopolizes most of my time. Do you really think that I would have time to set my sails on fire with that dumpster fire?

    Nope.

    Stop trolling.

  • Alright every single one of you doubting landlubbers need to cut it the hell out with your prejudices against this game.

Forget the art style for a minute and actually look at the game play.

It's no SoT, but in all honesty it's straight up better PvP to those that actually like to shoot guns and strike with melee. The kicker for me is simply the variety in weapons and barely anything one-shots. You respawn quicker, no ferry to sit on, and you even have a mechanism that automatically takes you back to your ship in a flash, almost like SoT's mermaids but in your pocket.

The roughest part about this game is the playerbase, or lack of one. It's only ever active if SoT has disastrous server issues preventing people from immediately playing. (The immediate paywall also doesn't help this game's case either but anyways.)

There is nothing wrong with there being another cartoony pirate game. The amount of you people that have complaints about this game's combat should be trying out Blazing Sails, because it expands on the current combat and makes its own changes, twists, and improvements.

Also Galleon Conquest is an infinitely better mode to get into the action because you can choose weapons every time you respawn, instead of finding them like the Battle Royale mode.

  • Isn't advertising other products on these forums against the rules? Shut it down!

  • What's the point of that? They have the same theme, and that's it. They're different types of games.

But okay. Give the OP the attention he wants

  • @galactic-geek

Why asking for a shut down ? Isn't there no more freedom of speech ? Come on , Mr Galactic Greek , does Sea of Thieves really needs to fear any other Pirate Game ? The game , Alpha's included, is almost reaching it's sixth year and is still number one in Graphics and character diversity and so much more...

A game like this that seems made with sticks and clay doesn't really instill us with fear... Many games have come out in the wake of SOT and that's good as there are a few reasonable or even good games between them , but standing next or overshadowing the Pirate Lord game ? Nah, we don't have to fear anything...Or maybe we do as the "ultimate SOT killer " skulls and bones will release in 2018, no 2019 , no 2020 was it , no wait 2021 , 2022 ,2023.... Then we will have to fear.....WHAAAAHAHAAAA , that last one is something that i find my best running gag...

No ,let all people come up with other games, it's good to widen our horizon and some games will shut our eyes while shaking no with our head and some games will have a reason for their excistence...But , fear , nah , SOT doesn't even needs to fear it's own shadow.

  • To be clear: Blazing Sails is not a bad game but it's an indie game with obvious limitations. It looks like a game made in Unity with premade assets (I have no idea if it is or not). I've watched a few people play it and while it has some similarities to SOT at first glance, after awhile you start to see clear differences in their approach. I would say it's akin to Battlefield vs Call of Duty in that regard. There's room for both as they both offer very different gameplay experiences.

I can see a lot of PvP folk being interested in Blazing Sails (especially with Arena closing), but as a PvPvE player skewed towards PvE, it doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

I 100% agree with the sentiment but, just to nip it in the bud as I see this all the time in Twitch chats, freedom of speech doesn't apply to comments online, which can be moderated without impinging free speech laws. I would google "XKCD free speech" for an easy to understand explanation of this.

  • @realstyli

SorrySir, but i fear that you thought i did a personal attack towards Mr Galactic Geek , which isn't the case , i should have said better that there is another shore section in which people can introduce other games different to SOT...So there was no hair on my head of thinking to humiliate or belittle Mr Galactic Geek , let that be clear... :)

  • @clumsy-george

Nope, that was not what I was suggesting at all, Mr George. I know there was nothing personal there.

I was simply pointing out that "freedom of speech" doesn't apply here.

I do agree that the OP should maybe have been posted in The Outer Shores, but that depends on whether it could be defined as "feedback" for Sea of Thieves or not.

  • It is its own game imo.

It's not actually trying to compete with the experience of sot as of yet it's offering an alternative experience with a similar theme. Players of the games do their thing with verbal sparring but I think they both games do fine for what they are.

It's like comparing blazing saddles to Tombstone. It's a different ride that can get the job done depending on the mood. Plenty of room for both.

Personally I think SoT would benefit from having a true competitor offering a similar experience. Surprised it hasn't really happened yet.

  • @triheadedmonkey

Them: Mommmm... Can we buy Sea of Thieves?

Mom: But we have Sea of Thieves at home!

Them at home: Blazing Sails! 🤔😬
