Need a fourth ship

  • I see a lot of lone pirates at sea, and for that they need a single-deck boat that is a little smaller than a sloop and has a smooth deck like a brigantine. And the ship, which is in the game for two, needs to lengthen the deck and additionally put 2 guns + increase the load on lifting sails and anchors.

  • So you want to have a smaller ship for one person but also make the sloop harder to control with two?

    I’m not following.

  • Sounds like a slightly larger rowboat

  • I think it needs to go the other way if anything; either a larger ship for six people or increase the capacity of the galleon to five. I'm sure this debate has been going on since the game came out but the way I see it is that you can always play on a ship with less people but if you have a crew of five or six then you'll have to split up. I'm fortunate enough to have other pirates to sail with but I understand that there are those that aren't as fortunate or simply just want to sail by themselves. In any case the sloop is already a perfect ship for one player (in my opinion), it's the quickest to accelerate and decelerate, has the smallest turning circle, and hence can outmanoeuvre any ship currently in the game. It IS definitely a more difficult experience as a solo player but it is equally as rewarding.

  • Rowboat 🚣‍♀️

    But with a sail!

    = Upside down rowboat 🚣‍♀️ 👇

  • @scurvywoof Dont forget the cannons!

  • I get the sentiment, and agree, but not with the proposed solution.

    Leave the sloop alone.

Maybe add a simpler sloop as the 4th option. More like a single-mast/sail brig, and therefore shorter. Only supports 1 player. But like the sloop has a back deck - maybe even only slightly raised. But with a rear canon. That single canon can rotate quickly 220ish degrees, but backwards not forwards. Still able to hit either side, but also shoot chasing ships coming from behind. A well placed anchor ball could help a solo player have a better chance at PvP, especially if new - which is a real issue.

That suggestion won't go anywhere either, too many counter arguments. But I do like the idea of a solo player's boat. We don't need a 5 or 6 player ship, but we could use something for solo players. A more defensive focused boat (single rear canon 😁, just saying ) for a solo player would be great.

As a mainly solo player I like that Idea.. I like it a lot.

  • As someone that has spent a lot of time solo on a sloop, I feel the sloop is perfectly manageable for a solo. For that reason, I struggle to understand the request as I cannot envision the need for something more geared toward solo play.

What about the sloop is "too hard" for a solo player that warrants the need for something easier?

  • Sloop feels like it's in a perfectly reasonable place for one or two players. I solo all the time.

  • If you want to be a solo chad you gotta play like a solo chad. Its gonna take some time to get your sea legs, a different ship isnt going to make that process any quicker. The sloop is about as simple as it can be, and it's the most powerful ship in the game because of it.

  • I dont need 3 decks on a sloop. A smaller ship, brig style would be nice even if it was for 2 players.

I dont mind solo slooping, but the ship is ugly as sin.
