Remove Double Gun , and add new weapons.

  • I have been playing since day 1 and the beta, and I also abused the double guns. Despite the nerfs to the double guns, it is still very easy to change weapons quickly and eliminate a player in less than two seconds, also thanks to the fact that you can use macros. After abusing double guns against a few players in a game, I realized it's a game-breaking mechanic in my opinion. It would be fair in my opinion, only one slot for the guns and one for the sword. This could be an opportunity to insert other weapons, such as the "GRAPPLING HOOK" or the "MUSKET" without optics.

    There are pros and cons to using two firearms (provided you aren't using an exploit to fire faster than intended).

    By forgoing the sword, you're giving up the excellent maneuverability it offers via sword lunging and sword hopping, as well as the ability to block the swords of others.

    Your opponents can counter this playstyle by moving erratically, disrupting your aim with blunderbombs, and setting fire to their ammo box. Skilled sword users can sword hop through your character model to stay out of your field of view and avoid taking a hit from your blunderbuss (if you happen to have one equipped).

    Honestly, if Rare didn't remove the ability to equip two guns when the quick-swap exploit was rampant, they aren't going to remove them now.

  • Best to leave this conversation where it's at, before the replies become flooded with Sword fans and Double gunning fans tearing each other appart to defend their PvP preferences. Rare will nerf or buff whatever is too overpowered about a weapon or a combo eventually (and hopefully).

    Now adding a new weapon is a totally different story. I'd like to see what others think about them, how they should work, or if they should even be added.

  • Double gun is far more fun than a sword and gun to too many people to remove it. Yes they should remove the quickswap exploits if they haven't already, but removing the ability to wield 2 guns is the dumbest thing I've heard since PvE servers.

  • I play sword and pistol and do just fine cuz I have a ship with cannons and a much longer range and dmg I honestly avoid fighting other players up close and op for navel battle plus it’s way more fun

  • Adding new weapons I am on board with, removing double gun however I am not.

    DGing in the game is quite simply much much more fun then sword is for me personally and I would absolutely hate to be forced to use the sword.

    Let them add new weapons sure but don't get rid of DGing. What happened to tools not rules?

    What is more fun is a matter of opinion, not fact. Different players use different load outs for their fights.

  • Everyone gets 3 weapons. You're required to carry a sword. Everyone double guns now. 🔫

  • Removing the ability to use two guns at once is dumb. The whole point of the game is "tools, not rules." If people want to sacrifice versatility and mobility in melee for extra ranged power or the chance to once-shot-kill players in close quarters, that's their choice. Provided any exploits are patched out and imbalances corrected, any combination of weapons should be viable in different situations.

    Now, adding new weapons is an altogether different tale. Personally, I'd like to see the melee roster rounded out with the addition of daggers and hatchets. The hatchet could be a power weapon which deals crushing blows, while daggers could have their own ammo counter, and be thrown as a versatile semi-ranged option. That way, we'd complete the trifecta of weapons which are most capable up close, at more medium distances, and at longer ranges, similar to the ranged weapon trifecta currently in-game.

  • @scurvywoof a reply to you and everyone else in the thread about double gun (DG) and double gun exploits (DGE). Double gun (DG) refers to using two guns be that pistol snipe, blundy snipe, etc... nothing wrong here, however, double gun is often still thought of as exploiting because of the numerous exploits that caused double gun to be overpowered.

    The double gun exploit that was popular a while back has since been patched, this patch introduced a hardcoded delay that CAN NOT be bypassed by any means. This was implemented by the developers to make sure that instant kills are NOT possible and as a balance to DG.

    What I am assuming the OP is referring to is that if you shoot your first gun, switch weapon, run, and then aim down sight you can ads slightly quicker, HOWEVER and please try this yourself, even though your ads is slightly faster, you can not shoot until the game lets you. The game, as stated before has a hardcoded delay that can not be bypassed. This forces the user to wait until that delay is over to be able to shoot. The abusing that is referred to is the quicker ads, if this is deemed as an unfair advantage and combat would be better without it then it can go.

    The topic of "is double gun overpowered" or "is sword overpowered" is quite a heated debate. I would like to offer a take on it though. The sword was murdered, somewhere along the line sword was made (IN MY OPINION) less skillful and unfun, it used to have a lot of little tricks that allowed sword users to be more mobile quick, and unpredictable, the golden days of sword. But this was put to an end by numerous patches and "fixes" the truth is that everything that made the sword interesting, fun to use, and strong was removed and now you have a sword that stun locks, inhibits movement, and does a lot of damage. (I realize that I will be generalizing but in my experience, most pvp focused players stopped playing sword because it wasn't fun to them anymore and not as "cool" as it used to be, it felt dumbed down and all the time they put in to practice it went to waste)

    Double gun on the other hand used to be extremely overpowered and was nerfed time and time again but the core of double gun remained fun and the skill ceiling of double gun is how good you can aim. Double gun currently sits at a good spot (IN MY OPINION) it has a delay in between shots that cannot be bypassed and it requires some time to get good at. (Again I will be generalizing but, I see a lot of pvp players switch to DG because it has kept its skill ceiling that and lots of people enjoy the playstyle)

    What I think needs to happen is to give sword more life, sword needs some love. rather than to say get rid of double gun I think that giving the sword more ability (like movements or mechanics) would be a better way, it would be more fun for people who use the sword, allow for a higher skill ceiling drawing in more players, and counter double gun.

    I really think that this would make more people happy. Don't remove double gun, make sword better and more fun to use.

    For a start, make sword lunge activate even if you get hit by an attack. Then it is fun, more viable and can be used as a burst option more often.
    I only really use sword lunge as CC for noob groups. I want to be able to use it to surprise opponents again.

  • Hey hey ho ho double Gunnig got to gooo I hate it so so so much remove it rare this is why your game is dying because of those double gun toxic players that are teabagers and please add a curse log so we can curse toxic players that are toxic there should be something in the top left map of the map to corner of the Stroud you can call it the Devil’s Triangle where both Crew and the ship will be cursed to rather be imprisoned in the devils triangle the player decides how long they get to stay there if is two or if they have been very very toxic a max 100 in game days or if you’re an innocent player that got cursed by a toxic player the cursed crew that got cursed and when they get freed they will have a choice sail the seas as a pirate once more or get revenge on the crew that cursed you And you can make it any curse Press where you cannot stop on dry land because if you do stop on dry land will be teleported back to the place where you came from the devils triangle or you can make it a curse where do you get locked in an object or if you’re a power who loves to keep all the loot you can put a curse on the loot so yeah that’s what I want to see added in the future toxic players thinking twice before they sink a random ship that just spawned
