Alright……..someone told me that the ferryman set that came out years ago with the controller is not viable for a reskin. Apparently this is because Rare does not own the rights to the set. Is this true? And if so with who?

The Ferryman skin was released with the controller as an exclusive cosmetic. First not even sure legally if they can rerelease the cosmetic due to it being marketed as an exclusive quantity and time limited cosmetic that players payed real money for.
Second it would be a huge breach of trust with the players who bought said item for them to rerelease them. Them recoloring it is a grey line that they probably would choose to not cross due to the outrage amongst the player base who bought said cosmetic.@nitroxien A reskin of the ferryman wouldnt be a breach of trust, it would have to be very different and honestly have a similar exclusive method of obtaining it. @captain-coel what do you mean by reskin? If you mean just recolor than yeah it sort of would be. If you mean different in terms of design than that just a new cosmetic.
I mean, a recolor would never have the same prestige and value as the og set it's based on. Most of the Obsidian set is based off others sets, like the weapons, equipment, and most of the ship pieces are based off the aristocrat set. Yet i've never heard anyone complain that the last aristoctat set (cultured aristocrat) devalued their six pack or whatever.
But, in all honesty, i'd rather have Rare add the missing pieces to the Ferryman set than make a recolor.
@nitroxien a recolor is fine by me, I've had the controller since April 2018. For people that paid over msrp, I have 0 compassion or concern. I would like to see the new xbox controller done sot style and to have it come with a recolor of the ferryman set, vastly different color spectrum, but a recolor none the less.
