Grand Maritime Union

  • The Grand Maritime Union has been secretly sending agents through the Devil's Shroud in order to retrieve information on how to get through and invade the Sea of Thieves. Well, they finally found a way and will stop at nothing to make sure the sea belongs to them and its currency.

    • Grand Maritime Union Galleon and Sloop (same as Skeleton Ships), would roam the sea. Only attacking crews that fly the Reaper flag. Also, players would have the choice to attack them as well. This is the fun part of the idea. Have it to where the players can de-mast the ship and board the enemy vessel. Fighting against Grand Maritime Union sailors and soldiers. Number of the enemy crew would depend on the ship size of course. After defeating the ship's captain, the player could loot the ship, then destroy or leave the enemy vessel.

This idea gives the Reaper crews more of an incentive to get into PvE and not just PvP. Not only Reaper crews, but ALL crews. This gives the Sea of Thieves another broad spectrum of goodies to work with. I consider myself more of a Ship of the Line Admiral more than a Pirate, so this is right in my lane.

  • Q: How would the GMU AI work? All living NPCs thus far are never seen actually moving from a single location. And they're certainly not as bone-headed as the skeletons. How could we parley with them? Certainly they would listen to reason?

  • @prince-capelle if and when they come to SoT, it will be a part of the story and likely nothing so central themed as injecting itself into the emissary system. If emissary players besides Reaper want protection from Reapers, it needs to come at reduced loot values.
