Cross Server Treasure Maps

  • It would be nice if treasure maps could be cross server. Yes, I know this has been requested before inside of other threads, but making its own thread.

If treasure maps are cross server, it would help players who like to bury treasure troves to know that other players could have a chance to find the map instead of it being lost to a server merge. The reputation could still be closed after the map leaves the server it was made on, but it would be nice to know that the map itself lives on. Either as a 'random' map on the board, or as a bottle map on the beach which a lucky player could stumble onto.

This would help motivate players to make maps without feeling like the effort may be useless as it may never be found or done by other players.

  • Besides the server's load this feature you require will take away that sense of risk, lose or win all in a coin toss, that SOT has.

If a crew is able to bury treasure and recover it in a new server, nothing prevents them from using this method everytime a reaper appears in the map.

What server the map shows up in again, and when, could be completely random. It wouldn't make sense for a crew to store a map on the board with plans on getting it back because someone could find the map on the server before it closed as it is. With maps being cross server, there would be no telling what other server the map may show up in and what day or time it may pop up.

The benefit would mostly be for those with intent of helping other players, and players who may luck upon a 'lost map'.

  • Yes please at the current rate 99% of treasure maps are wasted! God knows how many Athena chests were buried to have never actually seen the light of day!

  • @metal-ravage no one said they keep the maps when crossing servers themselves. Just a way to make sure maps are not deleted forever each time a server merges.
