Spawn rates.

  • Alright, I know a lot of people are still complaining about it, and for good reason.

So whenever I try and go to an island I immediately get ocean crawler spawns, I go through those annoying waves and at the end (as a solo player on a sloop) i get 2 crab ocean crawlers at the same time? and after they die 2 more? and then phantoms spawn? and then skeletons?

Will we ever be able to go to an island and be able to listen to all the sounds of ambiance and just roam the island? Now every single time I go to an island its just constant spawns. Everyone I know is talking about it but not posting it like this because they know rare will not change it. I mean seriously its getting to the point where doing the riddle gold hoarder voyages are annoying because every time I try and read something will either spawn or attack me, and its worse because they are high level voages (75).

Before these ocean crawlers and phantoms the spawns were good, or maybe they weren't. its just that ocean crawlers and phantoms are so much more annoying to fight than skeletons.

  • The dangers of the seas and islands.
I don’t see the problem here.

  • It feels like smaller islands are somehow "broken". The spawn rate on large islands is just fine. Seems consistent with what it was before the introduction of the new enemy types, just varied in form now.

But...small islands...It's non-stop. Seconds after one wave is vanquished, the next wave spawns. Sometimes they even overlap.

Silver lining, if you need some extra loot to get to Grade 5, gems have never been easier to come by LOL

  • @sweetsandman it still varies on small ones too, I get a mix of nothing spawns, to normal spawns, to nonstop spawns from visit to visit. And I do a lot of island hopping these days as I just go with the flow and wander around collecting the absurd amount of Loot just laying around (and finding that Bottle Quests actually produce some alright stuff as of late, not to mention all the Skeleton Captains). So there is still a spread, though I do think it is a bug, but I actually like it since it keeps me on my toes.

  • @redeyesith Yeah I mean us veteran players shrug it off... maybe laugh...maybe roll our eyes...maybe shout "Seriously?!?!" as that next wave spawns...but we soldier on and complete whatever the task is because we are quick to find the 'X' or whatever task we're doing because we know how the game works and how to quickly hit a dig spot.

It's the new players I'm concerned for. This definitely seems like a bug as you said. Thinking back to my early days on the seas, some of these waves would have made me log out LOL.

  • @sweetsandman indeed, I was more getting at the bug having some range to it. And since Spawns are set during a designated visit to the Island one does actually have the option to sail away to a nearby Island, visit it by setting foot on land, and then swing right back and you'll have a brand new Spawn. Trips to the Ferry often reset the Spawn as well (even if self imposed), at least if you're solo and no one else is on the Island. This is one of the various areas where one can in theory learn to work with the world, or learn from other Pirates how to work with the world.

  • Does anyone know if having the first TT active still makes the skellies weaker?

  • @pithyrumble For some reason I remember them saying they fixed that as it pertains to the Shroudbreaker. However, I can confirm that it definitely still works for a couple of the other ones. I've tried it using The Legendary Storyteller as well as Revenge of the Morningstar and it still works for those. Very helpful on an Athena Voyage lol

  • @sweetsandman
I made 224k the other night from ocean crawlers and captains on salty sands. 45 gems, 4 mega kegs, and some captains chests and villainous skulls. Only took about 2 hours and I was solo up until I hit grade 5 merchant.
