Carpenter needs some clothes and a title

  • Hi,
This is a suggestion we really to see one day. Is just cosmetic but what about some clothing to look like a carpenter or for differents roles for the ships?

I'm trying to see that one day because one of my friends is been from day 1 from the game with the role of carpenter been always the one fixing the ship. Even maybe a title to give the roles they like the players...

I think that is easy for Rare....

Thanks for reading and making this game awesome!

Cheers and see you on the sea....

  • I could see some Titles being added that are unlocked based on Activity. Say, maybe, Patch 500 Hull Holes/Masts or something like that to unlock some Title. Most people probably wouldn't use them, but I'm sure some folks would.

  • Carpenter? That sound like a fancy name for Bilge or Deckhand.

Like the sound of the idea, more cosmetics the better!

  • I have a friend that loves cooking and he wants a big chef hat. It would be cool to get cosmetics based on ship’s roles.

  • The title that this game needs is that of the helmsman. That is the most important yet underrated role in a ship.

  • Let's refine this a bit then. Commendations and Titles themed on Age of Sail roles on a Ship that can be linked nicely to Activity. It could be another series type of Commendation and Title set, so people can preen a little with it too as it in the spirit of the game. So maybe something like this:

    Roles/Tasks

    • Helmsman: Associated to the task of being actively on the Helm for a certain amount of distance sailed.
    • Cannoneer: Associated to getting successful hits on other Ships (including AI) with a Ships cannons (no land based ones).
    • Rigger: Associated to shifting the sails so that they catch Wind from the appropriate connection point.
    • Cook: Associated to preparing Perfectly Cooked Meats at the Stove on a Ship.
    • Boatswain: Associated to Patching Holes on Ships.

    Ranks

    • Novice: Gained by doing the first required base Tier Amount associated with the Task.
    • Proficient: Gained by doing the second required base Tier Amount associated with the Task.
    • Expert: Gained by doing the third required base Tier Amount associated with the Task.
    • Master: Gained by doing the last required base Tier Amount associated with the Task.
    • Legendary: Gained by doing the associated Task a certain number of times as a Pirate Legend (this one is standalone).

    Titles
The Titles would be "Rank Role" in formatting. So as an example, Novice Helmsman or Legendary Boatswain.

    Amounts
As for the amounts of times one would need to do each of the associated tasks, I'm pretty open on that as it would need to essentially vary from task to task with something appropriate. I don't think that these ones would need to be particularly Grindy, we have a number of those available out there as it is and this is more a little fun thing for people to designate themselves as Roles in their Crew if they like.

That would give you 5 Commendations/Titles that could be associated to the main roles that you would represent in the Sea of Thieves environment. There are more roles than Crew slots, so people can mix and match things up as they see fit as it is also still just cosmetic in practice anyways and all the Crew can do any of the things as they like.

  • @redeyesith All's good here so long as these aren't encoded roles with perks/un-perks, except the Helmsman can just never get off the wheel under any circumstance and the boatswain can just deliberately crash the ship to repair. It's fine if they're solo or with a willing crew, but let's hope we don't find someone like this in our open crews.
