Tall Tale order

  • Why are the Pirate Life Tall Tales not listed after the original Tall Tales in the TT menu? The events of A Pirates Life take place after Heart of Fire, so if a person that never played any of them and want to go in order, they would most likely start with Pirates Life because of the listing and numbering. They will be introduced to characters and have no idea why it matters why they are there.

Or maybe it is just the deal they are part of where PL has to be listed first

  • @tommydeee I definitely believe this makes sense and it's a small but nice change that the devs could definitely do

  • Aye, I think it’s about time they fix the order, obviously it was understandable why it was like that in the first place to ensure all the new players can see the Potc related stuff but now we are in season 4 and fast approaching the season 5 and long past from it launch date.

  • I wish they just lock everything.
and only unlock them in order. So if you havnt finished the Heart of fire, you cant do the Pirates life.

  • @burnbacon that would defeat the purpose of getting new players to play those Tall Tales.

  • I always liked the progressive nature of the TTs originally, but a lot of folks complained about it at the time with Shores of Gold. Which is why the next ones were not locked into a particular order despite the story still unfolding progressively. They went back to progressive style in Pirate's Life again, so I do personally find it a bit of a shame that the whole series isn't just setup in a progressive style requiring completing the earlier parts of the story first. It makes for a disjointed experience for newer players for sure.

But I also don't see any of it changing. They'll let you kick of Pirate's Life whenever you want so you can get into the Disney tie in immediately (though need to do it in order there) or start with Shores of Gold, or skip to either Seabound Soul or Heart of Fire (or swapping those two around since one does not require the other) as it is now.

Ideally though, it would be: Maiden Voyage, Shores of Gold, Ashen Age, and then Pirate's Life in that order.

Thankfully I personally played them all in the right order, and whenever I go back to it all I tend to just rerun the nearly full thing in order again (I do skip the Maiden Voyage since I have that all done and it is more of a tutorial than anything).

  • @burnbacon said in Tall Tale order:

I wish they just lock everything.
and only unlock them in order. So if you havnt finished the Heart of fire, you cant do the Pirates life.

That would be the correct decision, artistically, but not the correct decision financially.

I like to think that many of the new players who are attracted to the game because of the PotC content will become curious about who some of those other characters are, and play the other tall tales to learn more.
