  • And waste of gold. Why buy the cow when the milk is free?

Same reason on why people like to buy supplies from the Merchant on the docks when one can also simply supply up using the crates around the outpost and surrounding island.

It's convenient, and makes sense for the merchant to sell supplies as it makes sense for the fisherman to sell bait.

  • I think that eventually this will happen and in the same time I foresee an upgrade to the Hunters Call.

I notice you are an insider. How clear is this foresight?

That has nothing to do with the Insiders and that is easily verifiable. In my opinion it is time the HC has an upgrade.

  • @mr-whaletoes Please note that they aren't allowed to say, per the NDA that all insider players must adhere by when they join the program. To say otherwise is a breach of contract.

    1. You shouldn't be able to buy supplies.
    2. You can buy supplies, add it.

If he's an insider, obviously he can't say. But if you're curious, becoming an insider is an option

  • That's not a bad idea. Sometimes you just want to fish near where you're going to sell your fish, and if the baits end up it can be a bit boring to have to move to the islands just to dig some worms.
Is it a waste of gold? I don't think so, and gold isn't even that hard to get, and obviously a bait box won't cost 1k of gold

  • @maironds88 You shouldn't have to move islands to find bait - you can find all 3 varieties of worm on any island: leeches next to water; grubs in sand; and earthworms in grass.

I don't know if there was a wrong translation by my translator, but it seems that you said the same thing as me, and just finished telling me how to find the 3 types of baits. Exactly?

Anyway I would buy some baits at seapost if they were available. And why not?

  • I think fishing in this game is unbelievably boring and even I can't understand why this isn't in the game already.

  • @sweetsandman Can't agree more, fishing is boring this is why I always stole mine or got them from shipwrecks.

It will be a whole other thing if the HC would require fish to be delivered in crates. Some challenge in having a number of fish ready for delivery might work as well.

  • Devs, Don't listen to the these players and take out the fishing...I Like the fishing! It is the one side to this game that I can sit down, relax and enjoy.
On the other hand...I'm finding the cooking on the ship bug kind of annoying. it's happening again way too much lately and have to scuttle my ship too often. (I'm working on my Hunter's call) I know its already on the "Bug fix to do list" but thought I'd add that one in.

The only thing of remote value at a merchant is the cannonball crate. Bananas are beggars food and wood is overly abundant. The empty supply crate is overpriced. I find them on nearly every island. On the other side I can find 10-20 bait at most outposts. Bait is not reqd to fish.

  • @wyvernkraehe
Exactly what I am thinking. I wouldn't mind paying for bait. I don't like spending an hour digging up bait.

Why buy supplies? Why even put the ability to buy supplies in?

I think buying bait is a fantastic idea.

  • @thesolsticefox Oh, sorry, I didn't know that.

If buying bait is a waste of gold, so is buying supplies. Sail to a few large islands and boom you are loaded up. I figure that is why they added buying supplies in the first place... it isn't that much of an advantage as long as other players are smart and gather supplies themselves. Buying supplies is almost solely for fighting skelly fleets or similar hazards right off the outpost imo.
In the end, being able to buy bait at seaposts- where you couldn't dig up the bait yourselves and would have to sail away- isn't a bad idea. It'll certainly help you when you occasionally didn't bring enough bait (or the wrong type of bait) to catch the regional fish you wanted. Like the merchant alliance, it should be limited as to how frequently they can be bought.

  • @darkqueen648 Completely agree! might finally finish those HC comms if this comes out😅

  • I said this months ago...and I am still in full support of this! And not just purchasing the bait...but having the option of which bait to purchase depending on which fish I am griding on.

  • I agree with you, they should had a tackle box to the game.
