Creating your Pirate Character and making it Free?

  • I bet others have said this before, but I think it would be great to have a character customization system besides simply generating a pirate character, because its hard to pick the right one to play SoT. And possibly make the pirate potion free, maybe add it to the game menu and remove it off the Emporium? It's gets hard to acquire coins in game, and sometimes I don't want to buy with real money just to make a character.

    No. No it isn’t. You the user make it a choir.
    And second, no. Back in the day when you only could make one pirate. Everyone and I mean a chunk of players beg to change there pirate. Even agreeing to pay to do so.

    So the whole paying idea maybe be the players fault or possible already decided.

    Adults have no problem. Those with jobs have no problem. Seeing as these Seasons even give us AC for playing the game and even ancient skeletons give us some. It’s easy than you think.

    If you don’t want to buy a 5$ potion to change your pirate, mind you you only ever see the hands 99% and emote to see the 1%, you don’t need to change it.

    Do what some do. Delete your profile…and start from scratch.

  • I feel like the generation system should be something similar to "Ark Survival Evolved" so us (the players) can create a pirate of your own image (and for girls to get decent looking player models). Buy the position was a great addition and I'm glad they added it.

    The potion is 149 ancient coins, closer to $2 I'd think.

    @impymidna
    You only need one such potion - if you're not happy with your first one, buy potion but don't actually use it if you can't find one that really suits you.
    If you're using one every month or so, to get a character that suits you just a bit better, that's on you.

  • The whole reason why Rare made the IPG (Infinite Pirate Generator) was especially to prevent that, otherwise the playerbase will make pirates that don't fit the game's art style

  • Pirates are meant to be smelly, dirty, disgusting, rotten, horrible things. The IPG ensures that, in some way, your pirate will have flaws. If we could design our pirate how you wanted, there would actually be less variety of how every pirate looks because most people who choose a subset of options that would make their pirates look handsome, dashing, debonair, or beautiful - all qualities that are not necessarily very pirate like. It would be a world filled with only Pirate Ken and Pirate Barbie (or Turners and Swans, if you prefer, but no Sparrows, Gibbs, or Barbosas).

  • @impymidna ahoy matey, you would be right, there are many threads on this recently (see the past week):

  • Ahoy @impymidna !
    I am going to be dropping anchor on this thread as there are already many thoughts related to the character customization being discussed in other threads.
    Thanks for you feedback!
