Sneaking Through Sloop Windows

  • Right now a pirate has the option to "jump" through a sloop's window onto the ladder outside of the ship by reaching the ladder's contextual prompt with a certain angle.

Knowing this, I have 2 suggestions, both on opposite sides of the same coin.

1: Reduce the ladder's contextual prompt area of effect so that it can't potentially be abused or exploited from inside the window.

2: Expand upon this phenomenon by allowing a pirate on the ladder to receive a contextual prompt at the window to "jump" inside unless the window is closed.

I figured this could expand upon gameplay by giving you more reason to close (or not to close) your windows, but some may say that it's broken to begin with, so why break it further?

    Your thoughts?

  • Even tho it's unrealistic I still don't want them to remove it beacause it's actually useful if you're being spawn camped.
But making it possible to get inside the ship from the ladder is a bad idea, because if you get boarded on a sloop and cannot kill the boarder(s) then you're pretty much done already, so that would make sloop players life even more challenging.

  • @zerrryy Imagine if a boarder could "jump" over to the rear balcony railing on a galleon in similar fashion. It would maintain balance between ships, but strengthen boarding significantly.

If there's one thing boarding doesn't need, it's strengthening. Hard pass on that part.

The window ladder grab is unique to the sloop and is very rarely used. If they got rid of it, I'd be sad...but not really.

  • Yeah but you have to hit the spot just right to see the mark to "grab ladder"
Do this while running around is not easy, unless practice.

While we are at it let's also fixing boarding from the back of the rowboat GRAB prompt and boarding from the GRAB prompt on the harpoons or cannons.

If we are going to fix cheap exploity things, better to fix them all.

  • Interesting idea.
I’ve seen streamers like BoxyFresh do this window trick. It looks awesome and it’s fun to watch. I haven’t been able to really nail it on an Xbox controller so I gave up. No way am I risking standing there struggling as I get chopped up.

Either way, I don’t have a problem with it as is.
